First Things First-- Balancing Your Priorities! I'm not sure Paul had the Japanese culture in mindat the time when he writes, "Seek ye first theKingdom of God and all other things will be addedunto you." I'm not sure how much popularity thebible has in Japan today either. Yet, it seems asthough the Japanese people have at least onebiblical principle figured out. In the book,"First Things First", Steven Covey helps usunderstand how and why the Japanese people thinkhow they do and accomplish so much more thanAmerican's in a same twenty-four hour period.Covey explains, that we can divide all our dailytasks into two main areas of our lives. One areais the Important/Urgent-NOT Urgent area and thesecond consists of tasks in the NOT Important/NOTUrgent area. Understanding the Tarot Card Deck - Part 2 Tarot card reading delves into an individual's psyche and thus depends largely upon the energy that person generates, whether consciously or subconsciously. And because human beings are complex creatures with all kinds of major and minor issues ? not only negative, but positive as well ? the Tarot must duly address them all. So, although the Major Arcana bring to light the larger issues in life, there also exists the Minor Arcana ? which serve the purpose of illuminating the "secret and closed" events, feelings, needs, and everyday details of our existence. Motivated By All The Wrong Reasons Sometimes trying to be spiritual holds us back from actually living the spiritual life we want. In our quest to live such spiritual and good lives, we often avoid the stuff that makes us seem unspiritual, even if that very stuff can move us toward our own spiritual growth. Surviving the Tsunami--Animals and Their Connection with the Spiritual World When the Tsunami struck Asia and East Africa on December 26, 2004 more than 220,000 humans died, but amazingly the wild animals escaped without harm. Kundalini and Enlightenment We all hear of the concept of the "Enlightened Master", and I do believe they exist. Simple It was my intention to explain the word "simple," and by the time I put the thoughts into words it became more difficult. I am sometimes at odds with others when I say that something is simple, and I must remind them that I did not say easy, there is a big distinction between the two terms. Pray Without Ceasing "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 16-18, NIV Be Still - You?ve Got To Be Kidding? Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10 Sacred Space, Sacred Time We all need space, we all need time to ourselves. In Exodus3:15- Word of God:When the Lord saw that Moses was coming closer, he called him from the middle of the bush and said: Do Unto Others Marketing We've all heard the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Did you know that this little proverb is also found in all the world's major religions? From the New Testament we read, All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye so to them; for this is the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:1. The Storms of Life Life is full of ups and downs, trials, and tribulations. They are called the storms of life. Whether it's losing a job, the end of relationship, death, divorce, financial problems, sickness, homelessness, peer pressure, etc?. everyone is going to have some type of storm that they must deal with. Take a moment and reflect on some of your life's storms that you've already encountered. Think about the situation and how it affected you. How did it make you feel? What did you do about the problem? Did the problem seem overwhelming to you at the time? If so, who did you talk to? What did you learn from the experience? Special Washes Attract and hold your family at home with some unique spiritual & New Age special washes inherited from the Hoodoo practice which combines elements of African and European magical, religious, and witchcraft traditions and a little bit of the Native American use of herbal and botanical wisdom. How To Fall With Style - The Art Of Sin Adam had it right when he covered himself with fig leaves. It's not that he thought it would cover his sin. He knew this was impossible. But he suddenly recognized his own weakness, and he doesn't try to battle it. Instead, he covers it. Out of sight, out of mind. But when God asks him why, he comes clean, accepts his punishment, and and continues to cover himself. Now that's how we're suppose to do it. Reach Out and Touch The essence of the Christian faith is the good news about God. That God is love is the bedrock of our faith. All of the Christian teaching about who we are and about our relationships with God and each other is rooted in the good news that God is love and that He loves His creatures. Standing in the Gap I'm weary of saying No to my children. Not just the everyday No's. Don't hit your brother and No, you cannot have 5 pieces of candy. I am weary of the No I am continually saying to our culture. The world is bound and determined to take away my children's innocence. They want my children to grow up way too fast. They want my little girl to dress like an adult. They want my little boy to know things he is way too young to know. I'm weary of saying you can't go to that movie, because it is not appropriate for your age. No, you can't wear what everyone else is wearing, because it is not appropriate. The straw that finally broke the camel's back was when my son walked in while I was watching the news. He asked me, "Mommy is it true that men can marry men and women can marry women?" "Mom, if two women marry can they have a baby?" My son is 6. I don't want to be discussing sexuality with him much less homosexuality. So, I told him that no men can't marry men and women can't marry women (for now anyway) and that women with women cannot have a baby. (Don't get me started on explaining how they can). I should not be having these discussions with my children, but I'm being forced too. What happened to childhood innocence? What Is The Universal Subconscious? There are many different and interchangeable terms that are used to describe the Universal Subconscious mind. But whatever term you use, metaphysicians and scientists agree that our Universe is a field of vibrating energy. Things that are denser operate at a lower frequency, and then there are also finer forms, such as thoughts and emotions, which operate at a much higher frequency. All of these things make up a collective Universal consciousness that we all share. The Woodstock Effect: And Weve Got to Get Ourselves Back to the Garden Woodstock, the watershed event for a generation, had a far greater impact on us than anyone could have guessed back in the late 1960s, when it was first conceived as a commercial venture by four entrepreneurs looking to promote a music studio they proposed to build. While the actual festival on a dairy farm in New York's Hudson Valley was not without controversy and many less-than-harmonious components, the storied Woodstock spirit of Oneness that shines through it all is emblematic of our age-old desire for a higher way of relating with one another; of a more loving existence-the existence of our origins-and our destiny. At our depth, we know Oneness. With all its warts, the mythologized Woodstock, and the song it inspired, triggered our remembrance. Getting to Spiritual Enlightenment The expression "Spiritual Enlightenment" has been used often in reference to personal spiritual development. What exactly is meant by this term however has been vaguely defined. My research on the topic has found it linked to some of the following experiences: Relieve Me of Myself "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?" Mark 8: 34-36, NIV The Power of Namaste I honestly am not sure why this hit me so strongly, but it did. |
