Some religions believe in a masculine god and others in a feminine goddess. There is this snobbish assumption that only one is correct and that the other belief is foolish and misguided. Each believes that if everyone would subscribe to their particular vision of power, then all would be right with the world. The Tess Syndrome There's a lot of talk about angels these days. They're getting some pretty good press. Our God of More than Enough There is no shortage in the abundance of blessings we are promised as God's children. We should expect to receive from Him if we believe the promises He's given us in His Word. To believe otherwise is to show that we have no confidence in God's word. This would indicate that we believe that He lied when He gave us these promises and throughout the Bible, we are told over and over again that God cannot lie. We Are Not Our Personalities As a Psychiatrist I spent most of my life training and researching effective therapies that would help my clients make changes in their personalities. The premise was that by making such a change the client would feel capable of doing or feeling things that they could not access before. Such change is regularly sought by individuals who find themselves the prisoners of personality characteristics that they have either inherited or become conditioned with throughout their lives. These personality characteristics often leave these individuals unhappy, unfulfilled, incapable, trapped, sad, depressed, alone, ostracized, self-conscious, depressed, and suicidal just to name a few. Spirituality: Confusing or What? For some of us, spirituality is considered a religion, and for some it is not. For some spiritualists, we still see them dealing with their spiritual belief and see them stuck between two worlds. One world is the "new belief system" based on our personal growth, soul growth and our evolution, and their second world is also attached to one, or some part of, religion that makes it a hard time to let go regardless of the reason, but still wants to move beyond that belief system. That will create a conflict that when we decide we want to grow sometimes we are not allowed to bring the old system with us. That will slow us down. Think about it!!!
