Where is God?
Where is God? This is the question most often heard when things are not going right in our lives or we hear of senseless fatalities or extreme injustices. But I pose this question today because I cannot find Him in ways that I could when I was growing up. We live in a world that has misplaced God and we are not sure where to pinpoint the blame. Most baby-boomers remember when there were laws that businesses could not open on Sunday. Of course, those laws have long since been repealed. Then businesses began opening around one in the afternoon, leaving time for their employees to worship if they pleased. That option, for the most part, no longer exists. In many metropolitan areas, stores are beginning to make no distinction between Sunday and the rest of the week. I also remember the time when most TV stations carried at least a Sunday morning worship hour at their own expense. The FCC required public service programming and some of that was devoted to religious programming. But, it too has evaporated into the cloud of what once was. The content of most TV programs noticeably omits any scenes of church attendance, gospel songs, sacred book reading or any facsimile. If religion is mentioned at all it is usually sarcastic or as a joke. In one episode of the Simpson's, Bart is asked to say grace and he says, "Dear God, we paid for all this stuff ourselves, so thanks for nothing." Certainly, this is symbolic of the attitude of America's media toward religion today. I can appreciate the fact that we live in a pluralistic society where we must respect the rights of those who do not serve the same God we do, but must God be a stranger in His own land? It is mind boggling that we have not at least learned from USSR that when you kill off God, you also kill off a society's values. People cannot live by bread alone. Someone said and I agree, "It was not socialism that destroyed the Soviet Union, it was the absence of God." Several years ago during the Christmas season, the city of Wauconda, Illinois had 2 large crosses illuminated on the water towers. This was a 43 year Christmas time tradition. One day, the council received a threat of legal suit on the grounds of separation of church and state; so they begrudgingly took them down. But the people of Wauconda were infuriated and took the matter into their own hands. They had the right to put up whatever they wanted on their own property, so all over that little community of approximately 6500 residents, they put up crosses, nativity scenes, stars and lights. Wauconda, Illinois never dazzled like it did that Christmas. It is said that you could see the city from the interstate freeway almost 100 miles away. All night it was as bright as day because the people decided to turn on the lights. They may have lost the battle but they won the war. You can read more about this: "They refused to let the plug be pulled on Christmas" As far as I am concerned, that is precisely what is needed in our community and world today. We need to turn on our Christian lights. And when we do, we will discover that the same God who was present with our forefathers has been here with us all the time, but no one knew it because He was hidden behind the dark veil secularism. Pagan Religions Taught In Public Schools In classrooms throughout the country, Judeo-Christian beliefs are often cast aside or ridiculed. Multiculturalism studies, environmental propaganda, and Save-the-Earth classes now indoctrinate children with New-Age religious beliefs, often without parents' knowledge. Public schools sometimes try to sneak offensive pagan or new-age religions into their curriculum without parents' knowledge under the guise of multiculturalism studies. Amos and Social Justice - Part 1 Amos was a shepherd who lived in the region of Tekoa, not many miles from the city of Jerusalem. He earned his living by raising sheep and taking care of sycamore trees. He was not a prophet, son of a prophet or priest. He was an ordinary man chosen by God for a specific purpose: to prophesy to Israel. God called him, shepherd's staff in hand, and sent him forth to warn his straying people. Pomes II Here are a few pomes that may encourage you to read your Bible. I hope you enjoy these pomes, and I pray that it bring light into your life. Remember, all praise and glory go to the Lord Jesus and his Father God. Biblically Speaking of Evil and National Security We have been learning to think Biblically and speak Scripturally about evil in order to teach our children about the dangers present in our fallen world, while setting our affections on things above (Colossians 3:2) and staying Spiritually minded (Romans 8:6). We first noticed that "it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret" (Ephesians 5:12), so we don't speak of those things. Islamic World Domination The question is not whether terrorism is now a world-wide reality, but why is terrorism happening at all? And, is it possible to thwart the activities of the Islamic extremists? Left Behind! Who Me? The popularity in the past few years of the apocalyptic fiction series Left Behind by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins in indicative of the fact that people would rather believe a lie told to them in a sexy, slick way then believe the truth of the Word of God that has been staring them straight in the face for centuries. End Time Events and the 2nd Coming of Jesus In part 1 of this series of end time articles, I am going to go ahead and outline all of the main events that will be occurring that will be leading up to the 2nd coming of Jesus to our earth. This will be a basic overview of the main end time events. I will then go into additional parts giving you a bit more detail into some of these specific events. The Bible once again, very specifically and very explicitly, lays out exactly what is going to happen before Jesus returns back to us for His second coming. The Judgment Seat of Christ The thought of a public examination before the Judgment bar of our Lord should be incentive enough to awaken even the most slumbering saint of God. Yet few, if any, ever give it a second thought. Paul declared, "So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God" (Rom. 14:12). Perhaps if the doctrine of judgment and reward were expounded more from our pulpits there would be more attention given to living a life of holiness and obedience. Think of it. How will you stand in that day? Will you approach Him with confidence or will you stand before Him red-faced and embarrassed over a life of waste and neglect? It is something that we as Christians will all have to do. Are you ready to appear before the judgment seat? And if you say that you are, perhaps you are speaking without the necessary contemplation of the task that lies before you. Yes, the judgment seat will be a most solemn occasion for many in that great day. Gods Armorbearer & The Ministry of Details And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. ?1 Corinthians 12:28 KJV. The Need for Biblically Minded Engineers There is a great need in the world today for engineers who think and work from a Christian worldview. These engineers are needed to design, prototype, develop, and manufacture goods that support family economies, as opposed to city-corporate-paper economies, which strain the traditional family. Slain in the Spirit? WHAT'S HAPPENING HERE? Do You Have Disciples? Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." That was the command of the master, Jesus of Nazareth when he walked the face of this earth to two fishermen, Simon and his brother, Andrew. Is Buddhism A Religion? Buddhism is a teaching which has spread worldwide absorbing the culture of each country it arrived in, which has resulted in many expressions of Buddhism. Each strand, no matter how varied in nature and practice, holds a common emphasis on the impermanence of human life. The worldwide spread of Buddhism means that it is now practiced by over three hundred million people worldwide, and thus, is generally considered to be a world religion. However, its authenticity as a religion has often come under scrutiny by intellectuals in the Western world. To explore whether Buddhism can in fact be counted as a religion we must acknowledge that the main problems arise when looking for a definition of what a religion is. Either, definitions have proved too narrow excluding many belief systems which people believe are religious, or they become too broad which means that any structure can be counted. When applying varying definitions of religion to Buddhism we come up with some very contradictory answers; some which say that Buddhism is simply a philosophy or teaching, whilst others will prove that it is in fact, a religion in practice. Gods Breathed For it is written in the book of 2Timothy 3:16 it says All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. It goes on to say in chapter 4:1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. What is God? Does Proof Exist? Apology: Catholic Church Ready to Fall? Americans waited for an explanation of the molestations of thousands of parishioners, they waited for a statement about abuses of power pedophilia and homosexuality of Priests. They did not get more than a little apology, which did not sit well with most Americans. To add further insult to injury Cardinal Law knew of the issues and moved priest from parish to parish, then left the United States to go back to Vatican. Several Priests in high profile cases were arrested and imprisoned. Several more Arch Dioceses went bankrupt. Prophetic Ministry: Affirmations From Scripture to Teach Us Who We Are In Christ To learn who you are in Christ, you must know what God says about you. The Holy Bible tells us to do many things. Notice the number of times we are told to do certain things in the old and new testament. We find the word: Are These People Putting You In Danger Of Eternal Hell Fire? Most people put a lot of effort into being like othersaround them. We also tend to follow the thoughts oropinions of society threw television, movies, booksand the internet. People just have a natural tendencyto just want to fit in. Heads I Win, Tails You Lose In a time when public scrutiny is becoming tighter and more pervasive businesses have learned that they need to be on guard more than ever to ensure they are operating by ethical standards. Though not often mentioned in this discussion, I believe it is especially true of Christian organizations in whom trust is placed by donors. The old adage "heads I win, tails you lose" has a particular bite on this that says ouch. That's not the way it's supposed to be. White Sun - Tao of Heaven.
