From the Heart
1 Corinthians 9:19-9:23 From The Heart A Look at Christianity from a Ministers Point of View. The following scriptures give us an insight on who we are and the awesome responsibility that we have as ministers of the word of God. Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28 states that Jesus came to minister to man, salvation thru His name and His upcoming sacrifice, are we more than our master that we are immune to sacrifice? We are to give our lives to the promotion of the Gospel and the Salvation of others thru the diligents and preaching of the Gospel. In the world of mankind there are very few that have been called to minister to many. Paul stated;1Co 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Begotten denotes the physical relation of either parent to a child. Then doesn't this statement by Paul tell us that we are in a close relationship with those that we minister to, as with a child or children? These people that we minister to are children that we have been given, to protect and nurture and give ourselves too, these are our responsibility and we will give an account as to the care that we gave them. It is not our words that we preach that saves, it is Gods word that we preach that saves. Paul goes on to say; 1Co 1:26 For ye see your calling {Called by God, not man}, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh { mans Idea of Educated}, not many mighty {Strong in presents of appearances}, not many noble {of noble decent}, are called: 1Co 10:33 Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. So many key words in Paul's statements; "not seeking mine own profit." "but the profit of many."," that they may be saved." To profit; To benefit; to advantage; applied to one's self, to derive some pecuniary interest or some accession of good from any thing; as, to profit one's self by a commercial undertaking, or by reading or instruction. In this sense, the verb is generally used intransitively. Seeking His own profit is speaking of wisdom and knowledge in Gods word; He was stating that the wisdom was to be given to many to their profit to saving of their soul. We don't please all men, that's not what Paul was saying. Paul was stating that, He knew their way and could identify with them, as far as their infirmities, in religion, He knew of Idolatry and He knew of the Law, He knew the Rich and He knew the Poor, He knew of the strong and the weak, all of this he was speaking was of the spirit and not of the flesh. Paul used all resources He knew to reach all men that by some means He might win some. He could identify with their need for salvation thru Jesus. Religion is an infirmity to many, there are many religious people in the world but on the whole few Christians. Being religious does not mean that you are saved. 1Co 9:19-23 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. Have we all become all things to all men as Paul did? Or are we in a world of our own, only seeking those things and people that are like us? How many fellow Christians are suffering today that are in need of prayer and support? Lets read a little,09/09/2004: GFA Missionaries Held Hostage To Be Killed within 48 Hours!Anti-Christian elements in Bihar have captured, severely beaten and are threatening to kill GFA native missionary Pastor Manrathan and his wife. GFA Bible woman Sarita is also being held hostage. An anti-Christian mob from six villages holds the Gospel workers tied to a sacred tree, demanding 25,000 rupees as a ransom for desecrating their village with the Gospel. If the exorbitant amount is not received within 48 hours, they plan to kill the missionaries. There are no police in the isolated area to intervene. GFA leaders are fervently praying for wisdom on how they can best help the situation. The anti-Christian group spearheading the incident is the same one that burned missionary Graham Staines and his two children alive in Orissa several years ago. In recent years a number of GFA missionaries serving in their native India have been brutally murdered for sharing their faith as well. Pastor Manrathan's village has proven extremely dangerous for Christian workers, yet God has blessed his courage and commitment. They recently planted a church in this remote area of North India. A few weeks ago, Pastor Manrathan held a service where new believers publicly proclaimed their Christian faith. It was a significant time for the congregation. One new believer, a tribal person, renounced his old faith publicly by turning away from everything else to believe in God. This act was brought to the attention of the whole village by his neighbors, who objected to his conversion. In no time, the news of this event spread to six surrounding villages. Soon a large mob descended on the small congregation of new believers and began to beat them. Pastor Manrathan, his wife and Sarita were taken from the church, beaten mercilessly and tied to a tree. No one was allowed to leave the village, to prevent others from hearing of the beatings. Only yesterday, one of the believers escaped with the news. Your urgent prayers for the lives of these missionaries are needed. Pray the Lord will give them strength and that His presence would be real to them during this time of trial and persecution. Pray also for endurance and boldness. 2Co 2:4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you. 2Co 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. Jam 3:1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. How can we ignore the other side of Christianity, how can we not have compassion for our brothers and sisters in peril? Prophecy must be fulfilled but that doesn't stop us from giving the Gospel the best we have. Preaching, teaching, witnessing to others with all our hearts. Would you here today, that are lost be able to take the punishment of terrorism and stay faithful to your cause, do you have someone to turn to that would understand and protect you in time of need? Without Jesus you have no one. In the sight of God speak we in Christ. Its past time that we began again to be Christ like, to pray and Fast and be as our Master, to love one another and not being careful for nothing, standing up for the God of all Creation. I say these things out of my love for mankind and Gods Children. Sometimes the truth is hard to take but we must remember that Jesus can come at any moment, shouldn't we be about our Fathers business when He returns? Anthony Smith

What Does The Religious Right Really Want? What does the Religious Right really want? Well, besides power, money and control, what they really want is to see a radical Right judge appointed to the Supreme Court. Why? To overturn Roe v. Wade. It really is that simple. What the Religious Right (henceforth referred to as RR) wants is to tell me, and all women, what to do with our bodies. Slaves Songs and Freedom It may seem trite and naïve to suggest we can use the codes that slaves used in their Gospel songs to truly communicate. Unfortunately these black Americans now believe the Gospels they used to make their masters think they were happy and going along with the slave driver. It may seem paranoid to suggest we are still slaves even if we have lots of goodies or three cars in the garage. The truth of our world civilization is not very civilized. The wars and borders that keep us fighting or seeking to be chosen above 'others' in some racist ideology that includes frequent genocides is real. All religions are obviously not trying to let people know that whatever God might be it does not vary from one place to another and all life is part of it. They must start saying they all worship the same thing and tell their followers no one is better than anyone else. Spiritual Healing: Jesus Christ in the Flesh Does Jesus Christ live in heaven today in the flesh as a man?And if so, how does His living in the flesh relate to the physical reality of spiritual healing today? 6 Keys to Successfully Screening Church Staff and Volunteers Whether you are in the process of formulating a screening policy for your congregation, or already have a screening program in place, here are some tips to help you with your efforts to protect your church family. Women as Catholic Priests: The Time for Change is Now In ancient Rome, the cradle of democracy, women had no rights. Their place was in the home under the custody and control of the master of the house, which would often be the husband or father. Her job was to take care of the house and family. She had no vote, could not govern, nor even conduct her own affairs without the oversight of a man. These are actions viewed as crude and uncivilized by today's standards. Crazy in Love Several years ago my cousin was pleased to find out that she wasn't going crazy, she found out that what she suffered from was O.C.D. or better known as "obsessive, compulsive disorder". Just knowing that what she suffered from had a name and could now be treated with proper medication and through the power of knowlege, she could contend with it on a more positive level. At least it was confirmed that she was not crazy. Through lack of knowlege, we however are quick to label this sickness as a brain disorder or just someone who is crazy.Obsessive compulsive disorder causes repeated behavior by the sufferer to the point that we veiw them as 'not normal'. Anyone who doesn't suffer from this to some degree can't imagine why anyone would keep repeating a certain action when they know it was already completed. But this where lack of knowlege comes in.When we aren't educated properly,we lack understanding and then rely on our opinions and not truth. The Women Issue The following message entitled THE WOMAN ISSUE is a study for those who truly desire to examine what Scripture says on a very controversial subject: the role of women in the Church. This would make a great bible study or forward the message to church leadership. We will be using The Law of Scriptural Interpretation: every Scripture must be interpreted in light of other Scriptures on the same subject; it must harmonize with all other verses used as we compare spiritual with spiritual, (1 Cor.2:13). Ready? Here we go! Doctors of the Air We met at a Saturday afternoon fund-raising and promotional rally sponsored by a para-church organization. His calling card introduced him impressively. He was the pastor of an independent church congregation not aligned with any denomination, and a radio preacher. They called him "Doctor". And why not? After the good reverend's name, his calling card displayed the symbol D.D. for his honorary Doctor of Divinity degree. Discipled by the Kingdom of Heaven -- Becoming a KingdomScribe! Jesus tells a story - a powerful story - that illustrates how God's Truth for today is always a new Word for today. And it also helps us understand that if all we're holding onto are "old truths", we're really holding onto no truths! The Coming War with Russia The Coming World War III [with Russia] Biblical Hermeneutics ? Part 1 Hermeneutics is the science and art of the interpretive process which begins by determining the original meaning of the Biblical text and leads to elucidation of its sense for the body of Christ today. It is concerned with the presuppositions that are brought to the interpretation of texts because it consciously or unconsciously influences conclusions drawn. Doctrine of the Nicolaitanes When the Lord was showing John on Patmos what the seven churches would be like, He commended the church at Ephesus because they hated the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which the Lord also detested. In Pergamos, the third church, these deeds had become accepted doctrine, which the Lord also hated. For whatever reason the Lord chose not to let history record the precise teachings of the Nicolaitanes. He does, however, want us to understand just what this bunch of hooligans is about and therefore He has given us one infallible piece of evidence. Reading the Bible A friend of mine had asked my thoughts on how one should go about reading the Bible. I would first read the New Testament in its entirety in order to keep in the "flow" of it. After that - I would then start with the Old Testament - starting from the very beginning. It's long. I don't know how much you can read at a time. Churchless Christianity: A Move of God? There's another "move of God" that's sweeping the nations. Have you noticed? Very few of those I've spoken with actually have. There are others who don't necessarily view it as being a literal "movement" because it's not quite as defined as they like. Not to mention those who don't particularly approve of God "moving" in this direction. But as one British minister said to me several years ago, addressing all the controversies revolving around every new thing God has done since Genesis, "There's never been a tidy move of God." Is Buddhism A Religion? Buddhism is a teaching which has spread worldwide absorbing the culture of each country it arrived in, which has resulted in many expressions of Buddhism. Each strand, no matter how varied in nature and practice, holds a common emphasis on the impermanence of human life. The worldwide spread of Buddhism means that it is now practiced by over three hundred million people worldwide, and thus, is generally considered to be a world religion. However, its authenticity as a religion has often come under scrutiny by intellectuals in the Western world. To explore whether Buddhism can in fact be counted as a religion we must acknowledge that the main problems arise when looking for a definition of what a religion is. Either, definitions have proved too narrow excluding many belief systems which people believe are religious, or they become too broad which means that any structure can be counted. When applying varying definitions of religion to Buddhism we come up with some very contradictory answers; some which say that Buddhism is simply a philosophy or teaching, whilst others will prove that it is in fact, a religion in practice. Denominations Gone Wild: What Happened To Unity? The Bible teaches that Christians ought to practice a single faith. It reads: "There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all" (Ephesians 4:4-6). Yet, today, every man does what is right in his own eyes. What's the solution? Pastors and elders must set the church in order. Has God Ever Disappointed You in Prayer? Of a truth, the physical manifestations of God's answers to our prayers do nto come as quikly/immediately as we ask from Him. Why? God answers our prayers each time we pray to Him, but the manifestation of some of these prayers are delayedat times due to reasons best known to God, some of which He in His infinite mercy Has laid in our heart to share with the people of God to strenght and encourage them to pray., because no prayer goes unanswered, only the TIMING of the manifestation matters. Sex, Lies, & Videotape; Part 2 Acts 5:1-5:10 Sex, Lies and Videotape Part 2. Lies. What are lies? Is a lie an untruth, an omission of all the facts, is it a sin or unrightiouness, is it something that people use to cover-up lawlessness , or is a lie when you withhold all the facts? Yes, to all the above. A lie is a degration of ones own spirit, it gets into a persons attitude and lingers there like a leach, draining the lifes force out of them so that after a while, it becomes second nature not to tell the truth. Understanding How To Pray - Part 1 of 2 Being in the Ministry for a few years now, I've noticed one majorissue that most Christians seem to have trouble with that issue is understanding prayer. |
