The View From Nana and Papas I'm a working mother with a preschooler, worrying about Mom and Dad, who are approaching their eighties. See, I'm part of the growing number of Americans who are caring for aging parents (or wringing their hands in anticipation of it) and raising a child simultaneously. Rebuild Those Plans Byron and I started our first business full of enthusiasm and energy. The business was a seminar business with a focus on self-development. We loved the concept of helping others be more and achieve more. The business fit our backgrounds and we truly loved it. How to Deal with Discouragement and Develop Exceptional People Skills Ever feel like giving up? Do you ever feel so discouraged that even one more day of frustration will be too much to handle? Peak Performance Peak Performance. It means being at the top of your game, feeling supremely confident, feeling like everything you do is effortless and acheives its goal, feeling resilient and detached from the outcome, being in the flow, being in the zone, feeling relaxed, feeling happy and joyful, having a sense of clarity and certainty about everything that you do, feeling a sense of fullness in your life, indeed feeling fulfilled. Releasing Self Sabotage for Success and Happiness in Life Today, I wanted to mention this notion of self-sabotage. Positive Thinking - Make Good Things Happen- Turn Lemons into Lemonade The Alchemists of old worked over many years, centuries, in their quest to turn base metals into gold. At least that is the popular notion. In fact, alchemy is a blend of science and philosophy. It has been so since before the Common Era, when the ancient chemists did attempt to turn inexpensive metals into expensive ones, but always with the underlying thoughts that their work was also symbolically related to the perfection of life. Do You Believe What You Think? If you work toward what you dream, the dream can come true. You can achieve success. You can tell others one day about your success story. Self-esteem: Who Do You Think You Are? Are you the kind of person who dwells on your strengths, or the kind obsessed by your weaknesses? It's been said that you become what you think about most of the time. Continually pondering your strengths therefore makes you become stronger, enhancing self-esteem. Conversely, thinking constantly on your weaknesses makes you become weaker, draining whatever self-esteem you have. Accepting Rejected Thoughts Sometimes we are in a position to look into the lives of other people. It could be through a book, or a movie, or a story we hear, or occasionally it could be someone that we meet. Sometimes when this happens, we see qualities that we truly admire, and we think that we would like to have those qualities. Perhaps we just look at the person and think that we would like to be like them. Maybe we hear what they have said and think that we would like to be able to say things like that. It could be that we would like to have what they have, or do what they do. What Should You Be Committed To? There are many dynamics that go into making a great team. Dynamics such as chemistry, talent, unity, and the list could go on and on. However, there is one dynamic that many teams, businesses, and leaders often overlook. That dynamic is commitment. Without each individual person in the organization, including yourself, being totally committed to the organization it will never reach its potential. Why Should You Forgive? When I teach private Yoga sessions, sometimes, I become aware that a client has issues that cause anxiety, depression, and a negative outlook on life. This often causes difficulty for the student when trying to practice a stage-by-stage relaxation, and especially during meditation sessions. How to Change Any Belief I have studied the idea of changing thoughts to create a new reality for some years. There are many books on the subject. They talk of visualisation, affirmations, positive thinking, overcoming the past, transcending your beliefs, prayer, meditation, use of structural tension or creating intention to change. I have used all of these techniques to change beliefs with varying degrees of success. Some beliefs seem quite easy to change, while others require a lot more work. Failure is Only Feedback Does the thought of failure send a cold shiver down your spine? Failure is the thing most of us spend the greatest amount of energy trying to avoid. What is failure? Life Is Not Always Fair I once heard the story of a grown bear that lived in a cage and traveled with a circus ever since he was a small cub. The bear spent everyday of his life pacing back and forth in his cage while countless spectators looked on. When the bear's keepers were not looking some of the spectators would poke the bear with sharp sticks or would throw pieces of food filled with broken glass into the cage. When the great bear would eat what he thought was a wonderful treat, the broken glass would cut the inside of his throat and stomach. Mental Fitness For Confidence And Winning In Life Studies show that men and women profit most with having self-confidence and by building up their psychological strength. Believe It Or Not I am often astounded at what and why people believe what they do. I am sure that you too have noticed that some people believe in the oddest things. Anamchara - Beyond Positive Thinking One of the most well known books ever written on success is James Allan's "As a man thinketh." Changing Stumbling Blocks To Stepping Stones? "The difference between a stumbling block and a stepping stone is how you use them." - Unknown Life as a Burden Vs. Live as a Privilege Are you an optimist or a pessimist? Is the glass half empty or half full? Self-esteem Boosters: 5 Action Points ? Make a list of all your accomplishments in life so far. Whatever you consider an accomplishment qualifies ? your education, successful parenting, promotions, and skills you have acquired, overcoming adversity, a happy marriage, weight loss etc. Include everything; leave nothing out. Do you know people who do not have any of the successes you have listed? Someone who didn't finish high school like you did, isn't as qualified on the job as you are, or cannot sing like you do? Most likely you do. You have achieved something that someone else hasn't. And you should give yourself credit for that! |
