Information -- Schminformation, Enough Already!
We are drowning in it, our grey matter is swollen with it, half the time when we need a piece of it and we know it is "in there" somewhere, we can't access it because the poor Grey Matter Computer is so jammed it takes forever to search for the file and then it's usually "just lost" or was mistakenly deleted. And that's just our brains...what about our files, drawers, shelves, filled with papers, books, stuff. Arrrgggghhhhh! What the heck good is all this information if we can't use it? Or can't find it? Well, there is good news... The INFORMATION AGE is slowly passing. Like the tail of a comet that appears, is visible for a time then gradually loses it's brilliance and fades from view. And in it's wake there arrives... TA DAH... THE INSPIRATION AGE! Let's look at the word "inspire". It comes from the root words "in spirit". "We have a responsibility to listen to and honor the siren calls of our Souls-too often silenced by our egos"-Lance Secretan, Author of "INSPIRE: What Great Leaders Do" How much of the activity in your life is duty-driven? How much of the activity in your life is driven by passion? There is a world of difference between duty-bound activities and INSPIRED action! INSPIRATION propels you into the actions you love to do. In any segment of your life, if you do not love what you are doing 80% of the time, you are not living an On-Purpose life. INSPIRATION is fueled by passion. What are you passionate about? If you can get in touch with this, you will have defined your life purpose. For most of us that is not easily done and is a good subject for Life Coaching. In the meantime, here are some ideas with which to start: 1. Write a list of things that are important to you. You will find that once you get rolling, you won't be able to write them down fast enough. 2. List 10 times you felt like a winner or things you are most proud of. Some should be from childhood. 3. What do you want people to remember about you? 4. What do you want to accomplish in your life before you die? 5. If a book were written about you, what would the title be? 6. Finish this sentence... "I want to make a difference by..." Remember one thing...your purpose is not what you do (job), it is not your role in life (parent, spouse, teacher, etc.), it is why and who you are "in spirit". Your purpose can be fulfilled in any number of professions or roles. If you find your INSPIRATION by answering the above questions, then WoooHooo, good on ya, mate! (I'm practicing my Australian). You will have discovered the driving force that propels you. Something will spark a flame, rev the idling engine, snap a piece into place and off you go. You know, people want to be INSPIRED, people want to create, people want to connect. It's in our human-ness. In this new INSPIRATION Age, we will want to place ourselves in the company of people and events wherein taking action is the purpose. So much of Information is passive - reading, surfing the Internet, watching TV. Often we do nothing with it. While all of INSPIRATION is in passion-driven action. I meet exhausted, duty-driven people every day. The most common phrase I hear is,"I'm just too busy." How on earth did we get into this state? We are suffering physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually with this lifestyle we created. We hear the advice "relax" and "just slow down." And who DOES that!? Slowing down a duty-driven life only prolongs the suffering while living a passion-driven life actually energizes you. We ARE entering the INSPIRATION Age. Be ready! Get yourself On-Purpose and Love what you are doing 80% of the time! What did you just say?.....Oh yes you DO! YES you do have time to honor who and "why" you are. Be open to the INSPIRATION that will compel you to make it happen. Lynn Moore is a Life Coach specializing in personal empowerment. Her Life Purpose is: "To lead people to discover their true value." Keeping Your Attitude Up When Circumstances Are Down Everyone knows that a positive attitude is key to the successful life. But what happens when things go wrong? What happens when circumstances deal us a blow? We have a tendency to let our attitudes take the dive along with our state of affairs. Life deals us setbacks, both minor and major, on a regular basis, but if we are going to be successful, we need to know how to deal with them and keep our attitudes intact! We need practical tools to help us understand how we can go about keeping our attitude up, when the circumstances are down. Here are some thoughts to help us do so: Living Authentically in a Masked World Humanity seems to be the only species that never seems pleased with its own. People tend to spend the majority of their life living up to an illusion that no one has ever been able to attain. It is the illusion of perfection. The problem is, that is a course that is marked with failure and pain. Someone came up with the concept that people should be wafting through the fields picking lilies and singing songs of the angels. If you stay on this course you will never measure up. You were not meant to. The Great Challenge of Life Here's the great challenge of life - You can have more than you've got because you can become more than you are. True Inner Guidance It's easy to tell the difference between true inner guidance (spirit) and ego-driven guidance: the first is attended with Love and the second with Fear. Withstand the Test of Time As I drove home from work late one wintry afternoon, chilled from the freezing temperatures, I noticed the beautiful trees aligned on both sides of the road. Amongst the evergreens and the pine trees, one tree in particular caught my attention as it majestically stood, with its strong branches extending outward. This tree, bare from the many leaves that had once hung from its branches, daringly saluted the sky. I thought about how this deeply rooted tree stood year after year, withstanding the test of time through the altering seasons. I thought about how this tree stood -- regardless of the many changes brought about by the sultry summers and the chilling winters. Through all of the changes, through the bend of the limbs and the fallen leaves, there it stood -- through the test of time. Many times in your life, you may feel as though you've taken all that you can take -- that you have stood all that you can stand. You may feel like throwing your arms up and just giving up -- simply giving in. My friend, you are where you are today because of your ultimate strength to withstand in the midst of failing relationships, heartbreaks, getting no breaks, of so-called friends becoming your worst enemies. You are where you are today because you withstood all of those changes and many more. You are where you are today because of the many obstacles that you have already successfully surmounted. You are where you are today because you daringly saluted the circumstances, sometimes not even realizing how. The very strength that brought you here, will allow you to withstand your present circumstance. Don't throw in the towel. Don't give up on yourself. Don't give up on life. Just like this majestic tree, it is imperative that you are deeply rooted in your beliefs, in God, and in yourself -- so that when life-altering events come to weaken you, or to make you bend, you will daringly withstand the test of time. Attest today: I will no longer bend to the life-altering events that continuously come my way. I will stand strong, realizing that through my inner strength, and hope in God -- I will be like the majestic tree that withstands the test of time -- for I too -- am strong. I say many of us because I feel this trap has snared more than just me. Oh, it is a trap, alright, a way to defend our defiance, combat accountability, and excuse our own stupidity.
