Its Not Always About the Benjamins, Baby
Often when I receive emails from this list with folks,Telling me that they have discovered their life'spurpose but they don't have the money to do whatthey need to start living their purpose. Please, please, please do not let your lack of moneystand in the way of you living the life that God hasplanned for you to live. There is always a way to do what needs to be doneregardless of how much or how little money you may have. If the lack of money is an issue for you, start small. Let's say that you see yourself opening a store of some kindbut right now you don't have the money. Don't say to yourself, when you get the money you will open your store, becausechances are, the money will never come. How do you expectit to come when you are doing the same thing for the past five years. If you don't have an extra $1000 right now, than what will make you think that you will have an extra $1000 five years from now. You wont, unless you make some changes in your life. Instead of telling yourself that you don't have enough moneyto start living your life's purpose. Ask yourself, how can I start living my life's purpose with what I already have. You may be amazed at the amount of ideas which come to you that willallow you to live your purpose on a shoe-string budget. Let me give you an example. Once, when I decided that I wantedto promote a boat ride, I was terminated from my job and had NOmoney. But, I did have credit cards. I used my credit cards to fund my project and never looked back. I'm not encouraging anyone to go into debt by using their credit cards, but what I am trying to get across that if you really, truly want to make changes in your life you will do whatever it takes to make your dreams come true. You must have that type of desire in order for it to work for you. ACTION POINT: Find a way to start living your life's purpose regardless of how much money you have in your bank account. Make a list of things that you can do, right now, that will cost you little or no money, yet it will bring you closer to your dreams. Lock In Your Legacy You, my friend, are going to die. ?Back to CYA on a Mission? Six former wards came back to the California Youth Authority (CYA) earlier this month. This time they volunteered to return. They were on a mission to deliver a message to the wards at N.A. Chaderjian Youth Correctional Facility, which houses California's most violent youth offenders ages 18-24. The diverse panel of ex-convicts purposefully stepped through the fences of Chaderjian as law-abiding citizens. They each wore visitor's passes clipped on their shirts and security alarms attached to their belts for their safety in the event that a riot "kicked off". Lessons Learned Hard Many of us seek consolation in the words of Frank Sinatra, "I did it my way." I say many of us because I feel this trap has snared more than just me. Oh, it is a trap, alright, a way to defend our defiance, combat accountability, and excuse our own stupidity. Just Say, I Love You to Those Who are... Life is beautiful and lovable with the type of people we have around us. We talk about unconditional love, what is that? The way we love GOD?is unconditional love. Loving a person without expecting anything in return. But in today's world, how many people understand this. Probably none. We hurt people, who care for us. We ignore their love. Every morning and every evening this person walks into our life and tells, "I LOVE YOU", "I LOVE YOU FOR WHAT YOU ARE AND AS YOU ARE". We never responds back and then one day he moves out of our life. Matthew 5:14-16 The Road Not Taken Direct Answers - Column for the week of November 24, 2003 The Importance of Friendship My students and clients have constantly heard me stress that our Martial Art is more than just a physical discipline; that it is a discipline that develops both the mind and body. This is so important that Soke Masaaki Hatsumi, the grand master of our lineages, has made it the primary thrust of just about every one of his books about Ninpo and Martial Arts in general. Anything That?s Worth Doing, Is Worth Doing Poorly Yes you got it. You read it correctly. We're not out of our minds. We really are saying that "anything that's worth doing is worth doing poorly". I bought this computer just over two years ago with my first venture into the world of credit cards. I'm a mature woman and have seen and done a lot in this world, but nothing could have prepared me for this. When I finished high school computers were not standard curriculum and, as was the way back then, I did the family thing with little to do in the way of secondary education. So, with my children married and raising families of their own, some maniacal little voice in my head told me I could get a credit card, buy a computer, learn how to use it, make a whole new life for myself and all would be rosey.
