Your Gift and Talent is Not for YOU!
Although your creative ability and talent is something that God has given TO you, it's primary purpose is not meant FOR YOU only. God's purpose for your gift is to be a benefit or solution for someone else who needs it. What this means to you as an artist is that the pursuit and development of your talent is important because there is someone out there who needs what you can do. God foresaw to equip you with the gift and talent that you have because He also foresaw how He needed it used to benefit others. The bible shows us the following pattern: -God is planning on doing something that helps the needs of a particular group of people. -God identifies a particular person (or persons) that He wants to join him in accomplishing the plan to fulfill the need of those people. -God equips the person that's joining Him in the work with the spiritual and/or physical capabilities necessary in helping the people that need it. An example of this specific to artists would be Bezaleel and Aholiab, two artists from the nation of Israel under the leadership of Moses: -GOD PLANS TO HELP A PEOPLE IN NEED- Because of God's plan for them in the Promised Land, the nation of Israel had a need of seeing the "God with us" concept illustrated. God chose to illustrate this through the Tabernacle (the tent in the wilderness where God met with His people) along with its furnishings, including the Ark of the Covenant. He chose Bezaleel and Aholiab to be the artists that would create the tabernacle and its artistic elements. -GOD IDENTIFIES AND EQUIPS ARTISTS TO FULFILL THE NEED- Exodus 31:1-11 tells us how God empowered Bezaleel and Aholiab with His Spirit, in wisdom, understanding and knowledge. These two artists could have taken their gift and began using it to create whatever they wanted, but God specifically identified the primary task at hand. Their creative talent was not for a purpose isolated to themselves, but their talent was for others who needed to experience what they created. -WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO YOU AS AN ARTIST? Although your gift and talent can motivate and inspire you alone, its primary purpose is to benefit or serve as a solution to others. That need can be as seemingly simple as decor and design elements for their home, church or office, to more complex issues of communicating concepts through graphic design or illustration. -SO, WHO NEEDS WHAT YOU HAVE? By understanding the unique capabilities of what you can do as an artist, you will know who is in need of your skills and abilities. If you understand that God has given you a passion for creating comics, along with the skill and know-how to do it, you will discover those that need to have those comics created (readers, publishers or both). If your artistic gift is Graphic Design, there are those out there in need of your skills whether as an employer or client. The key to finding out who needs your talent is by staying connected to Christ. Within a relationship with Christ as our Lord and Savior, we communicate with Him daily through prayer and reading of His word. Through this connection, the Spirit of God will allow you to cross paths with those that are in need of your talents. © 2005 Tony Snipes Tony Snipes is an Artist, ministry leader, Illustrator and founder of "The Kreative Kingdom", whose goal is to help artists seek God's purpose and plan for their creative talent. Amazing Faith Last week, I sat at my computer and watched the MSN video clip that recapped Ashley Smith's encounter with Brian Nichols. As I watched in awe, I was amazed by her amazing faith in God. I asked myself, "If I were in that situation, would I have the courage to speak out about my faith?" Would I have enough love in my heart for this man who just killed 4 people? Zen and Peace (The Road To Lasting Harmony) Presently, many of us live in uncertainty. Due to the world situation and the many changes in society, there is a sense that at any time, our lives may be disrupted. Rather than allow this to cause anxiety, it can be viewed as a wonderful teacher coming to wake us up. This insecurity causes us seek another way of finding peace, one that is not based upon external conditions but that comes from within. No matter what is going on in our lives, it is possible to live from another vantage point, to connect with a basic experience of peace and well-being that constitutes the ground of our lives, but is often just out of awareness. I Think Ill Just Go Fishin I said something last week I haven't said in years. Where it came from, I really don't know. Be Aware of the Supreme Deceiver (Part 1) One cannot read the account of Benhadad and Hazael in God's word not be overcome by a certain sense of sadness. You recall Benhadad was ill and sent Hazael to the prophet Elisha to make inquiries regarding his recovery. Elisha told Hazael that Benhadad would not die from his illness, but that he would nevertheless, die. Elisha then stared with horror at Hazael before suddenly bursting out in tears. Not understanding what was happening to Elisha, Hazael asks him why he was crying. Elisha tells him that he was weeping for the children of Israel. It pained Elisha to foresee the horrendous suffering Hazael was going to inflict upon the people of Israel. He tells Hazael that he "will set fire to their fortified places, kill their young men with the sword, dash their little children to the ground, and rip open their pregnant women." Sure! Ill be a Millionaire! Discover Wealth and Prosperity with the Angels of Abundance I was in the bank's vault. The Brink's armored truck had just delivered several million dollars in small bills. Bags of money waited, stacked in a pile on the small counter. Methodically, I opened each and proofed the total it contained by counting the wads. I then took each wad, removed the wrapper and put the bills through the counting machine. When the machine finished, I hand counted it. The air was filled with the stuffy, musty smell of money. My hands were brown and oily from the invisible coat of dirt each bill carried. Giving From the Heart I thought for sometime that I was hard done bye with having to produce this newsletter and manage my web site with old computer equipment that was so slow that I could have cat naps between the time one program would close and another opened. This had a mixed blessing in that I could work for hours without having to stop and rest so there were some advantages to having archaic equipment. What good does it do to be able to type 70 wpm and the computer processes only 30 wpm. Just Learning To Cope I have been thinking about this all night. I am realizing that there are more and more people dealing with anxiety. I have my opinions in regards to anxiety and I have written my own story in dealing with that. I am thinking of starting a support network for individuals and families dealing with this. Anxiety is debilitating. Anxiety begins with a fear that ends up an obsession. I personally think that anxiety is the result of feeling out of control. You are at a point where your life and world has now become out of control. It is to much for a person to handle and that is where your fear begins. I am no doctor but I know from experience if you have not experienced this you will never understand and you could not possibly. That is why I would like to start a support network. If you are dealing with it you need to be able to access someone who has dealt with it and know YOU ARE NOT ALONE, and I do believe this to be the biggest relief. Anxiety can be a result of feeling alone, a fear that becomes an obsession. I think everyone who has been through this will understand that simple sentence. I am going to give you some examples of anxiety and hopefully some tips. Your Hidden Portal to Peace Want more peace and joy in your life? Daily stress getting to you? With terrorism, layoffs and pollution, can you feel safe and happy? Yes, you can-by tapping into a little known, and less-used, doorway to internal security. This entry is not really hidden as much as misplaced. As a culture, we've lost the use of this innate inner compass. The Death of God, the Mission of Modern Psychology, and Me The question, "Is God Dead?", first entered my consciousness when I was ten or eleven years old. I saw it on the cover of a Life magazine, and it's lingered in my mind ever since. At the time, though, I wasn't too concerned with His possible demise. I had pretty much determined that God lived inside each of us. No matter how hard I tried, I hadn't been able to find God in the lukewarm rituals of the Protestant faith. Instinctively, I knew God wasn't dead, He was just hiding within each of us, waiting to be discovered. Creating Your Soul-Centered Community Imagine for a moment. It's Tuesday night about 7pm. Email From God - Or, How Such Big Ideas Get Into Such Little Hands It happens to us all from time to time, especially to creative types - that diminishing little voice from deep inside that is convinced that the things we do are no big deal, simply because we did them and we have trouble seeing ourselves as authors of anything truly important. "Basically," the voice whispers in sad despair, "if I did it, then it must be stupid, easy, worthless..." and many other unhappy assessments. Going Where Youve Never Gone Before One of the first issues people on the spiritual path have to address is a doctrinal one: Is it wrong to ask questions that I've never asked before? How Useful is a Dream Dictionary Really? At the start of your dream journey, one of the most frustrating things is to figure out what the symbolism in your dreams means!
