Is This All There Is?
In today's Rants from Lance session I address the question many American's are asking them selves? Is this all there is? I myself have a number of questions along this theme? I believed it, when I was told of the American Dream and when I found out it was a lie; I wanted to scream. I worked hard, did every thing right tried the best I could and was able to sleep at night. But alas the game is rigged. So you ask is this all there is? Do you ever wonder why the greatest nation ever created in the history of mankind cannot get past where we are today? Do you ever wonder why our leaders make short-term numskull decisions? Do you ever wonder why the United States is divided or why we are slowly moving aside for the next great nation to take over our number one position? It seems that everything is "all wrong" and that you cannot say the truth for you might offend someone? You cannot call a homeless person a loser, you cannot call a liar or a thief what they are. You cannot defend yourself, property or family without being sued? Your church is molesting your children, your leaders are lying to you, your education system sold you short and your government keeps taxing you. Yet the government cannot do anything right, moves to slow to correct its errors and you are to blame for saying anything about it. So you ask is this all there is? Indeed, is this all there is? Well from where I stand and all I have observed after traveling to every city in the country over ten thousand, the answer is yes. This is all there is and it will remain this way until YOU do something about it. Until YOU take a stand. Until you are so fed up with all the bull that YOU say something. Until then my friend yes, this is all there is and it is exactly all YOU deserve. Because it is you who stood on the sidelines and did nothing and it is you who failed to heed the warning of all those who came before us in previous periods; It is you who denied that history repeats itself and it is you who settled for mediocrity in your own life. It is you who is lethargic and often says there is nothing you can do, that is the way it is and it is you who is willing to settle for things the way they are. If you find that you are asking yourself; "Is this all there is?" then maybe you should be asking the mirror in front of you and then calling yourself to a higher purpose and help us get things rocking again. We need not become another footnote in the annals of history as a great nation, which once was, because YOU will not get off your rear end and help US fix the problem. Anyway the time has come for your to make a stand, stand for what is right and do what needs to be done. Other wise you will fall for anything. The American Dream is possible and we must make it so. Too many of our ancestors died to see it thru for us to simply allow it to be stolen from us in the political correctness of a blob of bureaucracy. Is this a call for a revolution? Certainly not, but it is a call for you to stop complaining and fix what you can where you are. I hope you will re-evaluate your answer to the question: "Is this all there is?" Think on it. The Politics Of The American Dream The American Dream is the promise to have it all and enjoy it all. It's been glorified and sentimentalized as a utopian goal not just by the media and Hollywood stars, but also by businesses and politicians, including the President of the United States. But in reality, the American Dream is becoming more and more like the 'Impossible Dream.' It used to be candidate vs. candidate, then party vs. party, big business vs. the common (wo)man, platform vs. platform, then region vs. region, but now none of that matters as a new America has emerged, an America in which the majority with a religious manifest rules the minority with a secular agenda. Environmentalists Often Complain About GM Crops Maybe some of the people complaining ought to go to Africa and tell people to stop breeding like rats? Think of all the GM Crops can do for plastics, synthetic material and even for NASA since they are working with these R and D facilities to make organic materials with GM crops. All this special R and D is paid for by these companies due to the future promise of potential profits, but it is not without risk. FTC Franchise Disclosure Law Invites Violations; Do Not Call Lists The Federal trade Commission has a rule, which says that each potential franchise buyer must receive a uniform franchise offering circular. There are various things in the UFOC one of which is a complete listing of the names, addresses and phone numbers of all the franchisees in the system. The FTC suggests on their website that potential buyers call on these franchisees and ask questions in order to make an informed decision, yet is the same agency which has set up the Do Not Call Registry. Many of current franchisees get calls from franchise buyers who have received a UFOC from the franchisor, which they are interested in buying from. Fundamentalist: Fascist or Common-Sense? Is the only way to fight Fundamentalist Extremists becoming one yourself? Having grown up in a liberal democracy, being educated in the ideals of freedom of speech and expression, diversity, multi-culturalism and the political correctness that stems from such a comprehensive education, I find myself questioning whether I am a closet fascist when it comes to the way in which the British Judiciary are referring to the whole issue surrounding the London suicide bombers of 7 July and the related legal news stories stemming from this. MORAL ARMOR Condemns Home and Business Seizure Law Nothing could be more alarming for Americans than what I read this morning: "The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that local governments may seize people's homes and businesses - even against their will - for private economic development." This is a deplorable moral atrocity to perpetrate against Americans and must be reversed. Those responsible should know that they have destroyed their own credibility in the eyes of a free people, and should now go join the insurgency in Iraq. High Speed Trains and The Future of Transportation Where are all the high-speed trains we were promised? Where is a cohesive transportation strategy? With the current price of fuel we need better and efficient systems to move people; these gasoline prices are for the birds or Camels? Israel Termed A ?Nuclear Power? By US Officials In the last two weeks, two non-senior US officials indirectly called on Israel to start planning on cancelling its nuclear weapons programs. Even though they said this is not intended for 'the foreseeable future', their publicly terming Israel a nuclear power on a par with India and Pakistan might be a sign that the US perceives of nuclear issues as too serious to condone the double standards it employs freely on other issues. End Time Clock Ticking Away? Earlier this month, I heard President George W. Bush and Mahmoud Abbas, the Prime Minister of the Palestinians speaking of another Peace Treaty with Israel. President Bush spoke about the boarder security of the two countries: Israel and Palestine. Abbas of course, spoke of achieving final peace between the two nations. Upon hearing these two heads of state speak, I remembered what the Bible stated in 1st Thessalonians Chapter 5: Verse 3: "When you hear them say peace and safety then sudden destruction cometh upon them." Illegal Immigration - No Sign of Slowing Down The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) estimated that there were 7 million illegal aliens residing in the United States in January 2000. According to INS, 69% of this unauthorized immigrant population was from Mexico. (USINS, 2003) However, the top 15 sending countries accounted for 89% of the total illegal alien population and included Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, Honduras, China, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Philippines, Brazil, Haiti, India, Peru, Korea, and Canada. This means that a significant number of illegal aliens entered the United States through other than the Mexico-US border and that they fall under the jurisdiction of the investigations section (interior enforcement), not the Border Patrol. These statistics further indicate that the illegal alien problem is both a border and an interior enforcement problem. More importantly, the interior problem seems to be far greater than the border problem. However, the INS never placed much emphasis on interior enforcement. As a matter of fact, there is very little interior enforcement of the immigration laws going on. Interior enforcement lags behind all other functions of the agency and the INS clearly prioritized the Border Patrol function. Cloning; The Possibilities and Advantages of Thought Swapping We can all see the issues involved in the cloning debate, which go much deeper than religion; the real debate has to do with evolutions process of a self-replicating organic machine, human beings, and the future of science and the species. There will be power shifts in economic status amongst ruling elite, political families, etc along with issues of entanglement, connected brains and communication abilities in the future. Discussing issues with individuals or entire groups of clones will be done with telepathic thought transfer, which will definitely be beneficial to the group dynamics and forward progression. Population Control and Water Supply Issues As we increase our populations every new soul will require increased infrastructure efficiency or expanding of the systems of civilization and nothing is more important than that of water supplies and distribution. The flow of clean and fresh water has to do with which way the rivers flow and the weather that delivers the water to the land by way of rain. If we allow Gay Marriage as they have now in the fourth country in the World; Canada recently, then we must first make sodomy legal. Otherwise male homosexuals will be getting married, but not allowed to practice their favorite vice of buggery. Elliot Spitzer Blows Chunks This is the beginning of the end for the man who would be king. Mr. Elliot Spitzer loses big time and blows chunks. Elliot Spitzer's reputation is wiped out with a single case. One of his most celebrated cases in fact, as a Manhattan jury acquitted Bank of America's Ted Sihpol on 29 of 33 counts over the charges of grand larceny and fraud. He was accused of helping a hedge fund trade Mutual Fund shares after hours (4PM). The remaining accounts became a deadlock jury. He walks scott free since he committed no crimes. Is Inflation Harmful Q. Should the Government be concerned if the CPI rises to 5% ? Double Standards for Regulators? Elliot Spitzer, recently said he wanted to drive a stake through the heart of a founding member of the NY Stock Exchange. Since when is it okay for someone who is an Attorneys General to act out like this? We are seeing more and more abuse of power. I personally know someone who emulates Elliot Spitzer who is a young up and coming rising star in a Federal Agency, who would in fact go out of their way to falsify documents, make threats, hide their identity, and attack reputable folks on behalf of competitors. He would and did do this for reasons of selfgratification and future job titles and kudos? Bush Victory: A Defeat for the Have-Nots? The shouting is over and directions for the next four years selected. Judging by past behavior (the best predictor, psychologically, of future behavior), we can look forward to: All Extremists Go To Heaven... Dont They Heaven, Hell, or some sort of Purgatory. Whose Afraid of the Government; Whose the Government Afraid of? We need a government that can be as responsive to our needs and to use the technology available to serve us better. Yet often our government feels threatened by those companies who move in the market place at lightning speed. It is those companies, which the government has the most to learn from. Let the government learn form the entrepreneurs and allow them to streamline their efforts to serve us better. Rather than regulating to death the life-blood of America for fear that change may eliminate the need for a large government and thus reduce their control. After all it is our government not theirs. Why should we feel threatened; we are the government.
