The Homeopathic Nutraceutical Attend as an Alternative to Ritalin
You no longer have to use Ritalin or other stimulants to treat ADHD. You no longer have to consider anti-depressants as the alternative to stimulants. There are other choices. Healthier choices. Eighteen months of clinical research has resulted in the further improvement of Vaxa's outstanding "Attend" product, used for the treatment of Attention Deficit Disorder, with or without hyperactivity. The Vaxa research and development team has put together the most scientifically advanced, non-prescription, over-the-counter medicine on the market today. The new formula of "Attend," available since December, 1996, uses cutting edge research with amino acid combinations, Essential Fatty Acids, lipid complexes, homeopathic medicines, hormone precursors, and the precursors to specific neurotransmitters to improve the lives of children and adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The product is more comparable to a "brain fertilizer" rather than to a stimulant medication. The purpose of the product is to help the brain to develop new and better neural pathways, to process information better and faster, and to improve the brain's ability to inhibit behaviors. The formula is an extremely well balanced combination of "brain foods". This formula is three to four years ahead of other labs in the development of non-prescription treatments for ADHD. Results of Clinical Trials: Although our studies are considered "pilot" studies, our results showed the when used for a period of only 30 days, with no other interventions in place, 70% of the subjects made statistically significant improvement as measured by the computerized performance test known as the TOVA (Test of Variables of Attention). As measured by the TOVA 30% of the subjects made the leap from "out of the normal ranges" to "within normal ranges" of performance, comparable to having the "perfect" dose of Ritalin in their systems at a 1.5 hour interval. As measured by parent ratings, 80% of the subjects showed improvement in behavior and academic performance. These results are really extraordinary, considering that the product is completely non-prescription, is very healthy for both children and adults, and is not a stimulant. Again, this is with only 30 days use, and no other interventions. These results are better than the results one would expect to see with subjects taking pemoline (Cylert) under the same conditions. We also noted that the longer a subject used Attend, the better the outcomes. In fact, we also had some college athletes in a trial. Even though they tested in the "normal" or even "better than normal" ranges on the TOVA, especially in measured reaction time, they improved their performance on the TOVA with use of Attend over a 60 day period of time. Reaction time especially improved. As a result, we are also recommending Attend for athletes wishing to achieve peak levels of performance. Ritalin has been shown through the years to be very effective in the treatment of ADHD symptoms, although it has potential side-effects which many families would like to avoid. More recently, other interventions such as EEG biofeedback training have shown themselves to be very useful in treatment as well. A great deal of energy and money is being poured into the development of non-prescription treatments for ADHD. Any treatment that can top Ritalin's supposed 75% "response with improvement" rate can and will be "king of the hill" in treatment. I predict that the new "Attend" product will come close to this rate, but it will take the continued use of the product for four to six months to get there. Ritalin's great advantage is that it works (or doesn't) within 20 minutes if the optimum dose is used. For now, I would say that the new "Attend" is equal to or better than the use of pemoline (Cylert) in terms of performance of product and the length of time it takes before it really works well. In terms of being healthy, "Attend" is much healthier for a person than is pemoline. We believe that the greatest impact from the Attend will be from four to six months of use, but benefit will be apparent within three to four months. We have many children and teenagers at our clinic who are trying to "get off of Ritalin" by doing the EEG biofeedback training, and it can be very helpful. We believe that the use of this Attend, over the same length of time, will accomplish about the same results, but for far less money (about $300 for Attend versus $2,500 for neurofeedback). Helping Your Child Cope With A Long-Term Illness All children will likely have many different health problems during infancy and childhood: the flu, chicken pox, broken bones, stitches, ear infections, to name a few. For most children, these problems are mild ? they come and go without incident and with little disruption in a child's daily life or routine. A chronic long-term medical problem is different and often doesn't come alone, as children with serious medical illnesses are at risk of developing associated emotional problems. Learning to live with a chronic medical condition can be very challenging for a child, for parents, and for siblings and friends, and can lead to feelings of anger, fear and depression. Teenagers and Trouble - How Parents Can Keep their Teens Out of Trouble Teenagers are a work-in-progress, and parenting teenagers can be tricky business. Many kids get into some kind of trouble at some point, and, although this can provide them a powerful learning opportunity, taking a "kids will be kids" attitude is downright irresponsible parenting. Good parenting requires us to remember that, even if they look fully grown, they are not. Teenager issues abound, and parents need to be aware of all we can do to keep our teenagers on the straight and narrow. Here are some tips to help you because what you do can make all the difference. Help Your Child Do Better in School 1. Create a personal schedule Recording everything that must be done on a calendar or "to do" list will help him to keep track of important dates and deadlines. If he keeps it in a visible place he will have no problem acknowledging upcoming events and will be better able to plan how and where to spend his time. A "to do" list would also help him to prioritize his tasks. When it comes to homework, whatever is most important should be tackled first. 2. Watch the clock Setting an alarm for the morning is a must. I also recommend setting his clock or watch five minutes ahead since it's always easy to run late. When it comes to something like catching a bus, just five minutes can make a significant difference. 3. Focus He should train himself to be able to concentrate solely on one specific task. This is much easier in a noise-free environment. No T.V or radio should be on to distract him. 4. Get enough sleep Lack of sleep is proven to take a toll on us physically. The more sleep we get, the more alert we are. We thus have more energy to handle life's daily tasks. The average adult needs at least six hours of sleep a night and the average child needs at least eight. 5. Stay in shape Through spending time outdoors or playing sports with friends, he can "blow off some steam" so to speak, as well as re-energize. Encourage him to get outside. 6. Talk through your problems Being able to share his concerns with you will alleviate the frustration of keeping things bottled up. Sharing feelings often makes them easier to deal with. If you make it clear that you understand him and are willing to help, not only will you contribute to his emotional health but you'll help build an open and honest relationship as well. Guide to Choosing a Computer System for Your Child Before going further into choosing computers for children, I believe that you would like to know the answer to the following question: How to Teach Anger Management to Your Child Most of us recognize the continuing escalation of violence around us, due to intolerance, and many of us blame it on somebody else. Parents teach their children, all the time, and when one of us displays "road rage," while our child is in the car, we teach a brand new skill set. How to Parent Your Teen Effectively Maintain Communication Hearing Our Seriously Distressed Adolescents The distressed adolescent often has feelings of abandonment, emotional detachment, withdrawal, and isolation. These children begin to develop an intense anger directed towards an adult society that they feel has hurt them and does not understand them. Parents need to to learn how to build relationships with these children and this can be accomplished through a process of emotional coaching, of allowing the child to express their feelings without judgment while providing clear guidance, limits, and expectations. It is often inconsistency and lack of clear guidance from parents that further the struggles for these children who then begin to seek guidance from misinformed peers. These children need love, affection, and a non-judgmental atmosphere. If love does not come from a meaningful and sustainable adult relationship then it will take on a new and contorted character where the concept of 'love' cmes from trying to be accepted by peers (even if they be negative ones) as the child will know that they will find a source of non-judgment and will be 'liked' even if it causes their eventual self-destruction. Affection that is not provided by adults who should be responsible, is then replaced by irresponsible sexual activity where the teen not only seeks for pleasure in a world that often provides only hurt, but feels once again that through sex, they can find a sense of acceptance and supposed emotional connection.
