Theres Never a Bad Time To Start Helping To Spread The Word of God
Q. What's the right age to start giving a Bible quiz to my child? A. The moment that she is able to recognize pictures or symbols. It's never too soon to start teaching a child about God, and a Bible quiz is an outstanding way to do it. When most people think of a quiz they think of a series of written questions and multiple choice answers. While that may be the way most quizzes work, there's no law that says it's the only way. And even if there is such a law, I, the Great Quizmaster, hereby decree that such law is rescinded! Even if a child cannot read, they are able to identify pictures, shapes, and colors very early. They also learn to listen, and reason, long before they even learn to talk. With this in mind, you can design a Bible quiz that appeals to any age group. Hey, why focus on just children? Anyone of any age will surely benefit from a Bible quiz. The easiest way to design a Bible quiz for small children is to tie it in to an age appropriate Bible story. You can find pictures and drawings on the Internet that match concepts that were explained in the story. Print the pictures and paste them to a piece of paper. Then ask your child questions and have them point to the picture that corresponds to the question. As the child gets older you can replace the picture quiz with a standard Bible quiz that has questions which are appropriate for the child's reading level. If you want to design a bible quiz for older children or adults, then you need a whole different type of Bible quiz. Rather than designing a quiz that forces them to remember specific Bible passages, you might find that it is easier to keep their attention if you focus on conceptual Bible issues. For example, you may want to ask what the significance of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey was. This enables you to design a bible quiz that tests the quiz taker's understanding of the Bible rather than their ability to memorize passages that they may not understand. If you find that you have a knack for creating a good Bible quiz, you might want to ask your Pastor or Priest if you can have the Bible quiz posted on the Church's web site or printed in the weekly bulletin. People love quizzes and a Bible quiz is a wonderful way to entertain and bring the love and power of God into someone's life. The Bible says "God's Word never returns to Him void but accomplishes that whereunto it was sent". With that in mind, who knows what will be accomplished when you send a Bible quiz out in God's name. ----------------------------------------------------------------

Childs Play: Treating The Insanity of the Mental Health System In today's mental health system there is a pattern of fraud and coercion that takes way the freedoms and dignity of children and their families. Children are receiving stigmatizing labels and being prescribed psychotropic drugs with many untoward effects. Psychiatrist Thomas Szasz, MD made the comment that if an individual hit us with a blackjack and robbed us of our dignity we would call them thugs, yet psychiatrists label and drug children and rob them of their dingity and nothing is said. All in the name of profit. Rarely, if never are the families given informed consent. Szasz has also stated, "From a sociological point of view, psychiatry is a secular institution to regulate domestic relations. From my point of view, it is child abuse." Families are provided with literature that appears so matter of fact but is funded by the pharmaceutical companies and tainted with their bias. According to the Pughkeepsie Journal, the 'support' or should it be said front group for Children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder received substantial funds from the pharmaceutical companies: "CHADD received $315,000 from drug companies in the year ending June 2000, about 12 percent of its budget." Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: What is Impulsivity? Impulsivity is one of the hallmarks of people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. However, a degree subject may be perceived as too general and the acquisition of a specialist skill through professional courses or a post graduate program may help improve employment prospects. Surprise ? Public School Class Size Doesnt Matter Very Much School authorities often complain that classes are too large. They claim that teachers can't be expected to give their students the individual attention they need if there are too many students in the class. On the surface, this excuse seems to have some merit. Common sense tells us that in smaller classes, teachers can give more time and attention to each student. Help! My Kids Dont Listen to Me Does this sound familiar? Have your kids not listened to you when you wanted them to? This is one of the most common issues that parents bring to me seeking help and support. Parents tell me that instead of listening to them, their kids sometimes ignore them, walk away, don't do what they are told, laugh at them, turn up the radio or TV, talk back to them or give them the silent treatment. Parents say that they feel tired, frustrated, upset and at times at their wits end. By the time they come to me they have tried everything without success. So what else is there to do? Intermission: Wood Chips I wanted to share with you one of the most valuable lessons my daughter taught me when she was sixteen-months-old. I call this essay, "Cherish Your Wood Chips." Why have children? DINCs, This is For You! First there were Yuppies (Young Urban Professionals). Then came the Boomers, the Busters, the Boomlets, and Generation X. Now we have the DINCs, which stands for Double Income, No Children. I'm not talking about those who are unable to have children or who postpone having children until their financial crisis or mega-time-commitment to career has stabilized. I'm referring to those who are determined not to have children. Ever. Period. If this is your situation, please consider what follows. Babys First Month at a Glance Congratulations on your new baby! Quality Time with Your Teen It's sometimes difficult to find ways to be involved with your teen without totally intruding in his/her life. You want to talk to them, they don't want to talk to you (most of the time anyway). I've found the best way to connect with my teenage daughter is to enter her world and do the things she likes to do. There's a saying that if you want to understand your child's world you have to play with them, no matter how old they are. Parenting Your Teenager: Kids and Money Most teens go into the work world ill-prepared to manage the money they will be making. Even if their parents have attempted to teach them about money, they still haven't had the wonderfully frightening experience we have all had. Parental Involvement in Learning Whether children attend public or private schools, they benefit when parents become involved in their education. Internet Dangers - Protecting Children from Internet Jeopardy Parents are in a unique position to "monitor" their children's internet activities and to observe their behavior with respect to any actions generated by the child's internet use. If children are hiding something from a parent, usually an astute parent will sense that something is askew... in these times it may well be internet associated. This is a delicate balance of empowerment and trust. And it is a wise parent that verbalizes this balance and discusses it openly with the child, especially teen age children. This is why most mums have swapped their kitten heels and sleek hair for the more comfortable trainers and scrunchy. How Kids Learn To Cooperate In Video Games -- A Guide for Parents and Teachers A great many parents are concerned that the electronic games their kids play are teaching the kids "negative" messages such as aggression, violence, and isolation from real people. I want to illustrate here how computer and video game playing, can have positive effects on kids. This includes even the "addictive" game playing associated with many of these games. The learning from these games is well worth the effort the kids put in playing them, and kids typically sense this at some level, which is one reason they fight so hard for their games. |
