A Reality Practice
Suggested practice to gain freedom from self-limitation. It is suggested that what is actual and real in the world can only be experienced in the ongoing moment (by moment) and that to be fully in the moment can only happen if all ideas and beliefs about it are gone from the psyche ? including the sense of "I", of self identity. Look at every idea, belief, or truth about life, no matter how unquestionable it may be, and ask: "Is this thing I believe, or someone else wants me to believe, actual and demonstrable to me or others? (For example, "We all have souls": Ask, "Show me.") If it can't be shown or isn't demonstrable in any way that someone who doesn't already believe it can experience, then just put it aside. Not believing it or disbelieving it. (The idea being believed may actually be a reflection of what is real. Blind disbelieving can also be a manifestation of some other belief.) (A suggested definition of Belief: "An idea of how things are that is only demonstrably real to those who hold the same idea as real.") The more we put aside all ideas about what is real, the more we will begin to experience and live what is real, with an increasing clarity and freedom. It is not as easy as it may sound, because most of our ideas and beliefs are so built-in to our natures that it is almost impossible to see them. Also, the mind can take on new ideas such as "I'm now free of all beliefs" as another belief. Our psyches are very clever at this, so great diligence and attention is needed to not be taken in by more and more subtle beliefs. As a "spiritual" practice, this has directness, simplicity and tangible results. It needs no acceptance of complex idea structures that we need to believe in or practice, to become "enlightened", whatever that idea means. It only needs our real intention for complete self honesty and the paying of full objective attention to what is in front of us. Of course, this article also needs to be put aside and not believed or disbelieved ? just pay attention to what is in front of you at any moment and discover for yourself what is actual and real. So What Is Your Real Motivation? We are all guilty of wanting to change our circumstances, bettering ourselves and altering our life's plans, but unfortunately a lot of us fail to see the bigger picture. In fact many of us don't even realise that there may be a bigger picture. Even Though As often happens following one of the Best Year Yet programs I do, a message emerges for Monday Morning Coach. Recently I conducted a BYY workshop and what struck me was how often participants (I include myself in this group, since each time I present it, I am also vicariously examining my own life) stop themselves from taking action because of the underlying belief that they don't have "enough," or aren't enough (smart enough, thin enough, ready enough, etc.) to make things happen. Motivtion: The Power of Responsibility One of the things I've noticed about successful people is that they have a clear understanding of the relationship between cause and effect in their lives. Successful people understand that if they want something, they have to do all the necessary things to get it. The Power I had a friend ask me a question not to long ago that really led me to do some thinking. "How do you manage to stay so positive all the time?" You never seem to have "bad" days she said. 7 Magical Ways To Stop Procrastination There are a number of techniques to help you stop procrastination once and for all. While I am working in my pest control business, I meet people on an almost daily basis who are influenced by negative fear thoughts regarding pests invading their premises. A good size spider, rat, or unexpected insect can set someone off pretty quickly, and literally immobilize them. It consumes their thoughts to the point where they have trouble thinking about anything else. I Give Up! How to NOT Say Those Words! Boy, I tell you....it seems the world is just going crazy these days! The economy is going haywire, the war is started, and things just seem to be out of control! Life?s an Illusion I'll get right to the point. Life is not necessarily what we think it is. And no, I'm not going to extrapolate this to the extreme to try to convince you that we really exist on some obscure planet in a distant spiral galaxy and that all of this we're experiencing as "Life" is only a dream. Of course, it is kind of cool to think that we could waking up any time now, wandering out to the kptfrun to put on the cuggy and then stepping out on the prafo to watch the bos rise and enjoy the sounds of the bilbs as they greet the morning. We naturally, would be all the more enlightened because of the dream experience of the previous night and could therefore anticipate an even more productive, enjoyable day at the Snark assembly plant. Probably just me, huh?) 12 Reflections on Personal Responsibility Responsibility means being accountable for what we think, say, and do.
