Youve Got To Find Passion In It
People often ask me, "Josh, if you had one bit of advice with regards to starting a business or looking for a new opportunity or direction in life what would it be?" Admittedly at first glance my answer may appear to be a bit open ended; however, I do believe it does a good job of addressing the question. Without a doubt I believe you've got to be certain that whatever you choose to pursue is something that you place a high value on. In other words, don't make the mistake of going out into the marketplace attempting to sell something that you yourself don't fully believe in, or place in high regard. The simple fact is that if you don't believe in it, it's going to be hard to get its value across to others. Another reason to focus in on those things that you are passionate about is that virtually anything worthwhile takes effort. Very often a lot of it! Keep in mind that Rome wasn't built in a day. Therefore, since we know it's likely to take time to reap the rewards of our labor doesn't it stand to reason that doing something we truly enjoy will help take the 'edge' off of all the extra effort we're going to be putting forth as we move towards making our dreams manifest in our lives? Here is wishing you the best as you set off in the direction of your dreams. -- To Your Success, Josh Hinds About The Author: Josh Hinds of http://GetMotivation.com specializes in helping people to achieve maximum success and live the life of their dreams. Seven Keys To Success In The Information Age In 1989, when the Berlin Wall came down and the World Wide Web went up, the world changed forever. This marked the end of the Industrial Age and the beginning of the Information Age. Success and Failure: Two Sides of the Same Coin Failure is Great Amazing Mind Control Secret... What It Takes To Be A Champion What is a champion really? Sure, all success oriented people strive for being the best they can be, but what qualities really make up a true champion. I've outlined them below. Preparing For Success Everyone wants to be successful. Everyone wants to have more, be more, do more, and enjoy more of what life has to offer. We are driven continually forward toward the accomplishment of the things that are most important to us. The entire human race is a made up of people striving toward the realization of their potential in every area. Because of this, there is tremendous competition for the good of things in life. Everybody wants them, and no one is ever fully satisfied. The satisfaction of a want or desire leads automatically to a want or desire for something else. And it never ends. Benefits To Having An Education If you look back to the 70s and 80s, many people were able to get by without even having a high school diploma. You could get a labor job and make $20 an hour without much effort. These days, these jobs are much harder to acquire. Not getting some sort of post high school education these days is the equivalent of dropping out of high school 20 years ago. Super Achievers Have: Talent, Skill, Patience, and Lady Luck! As a golfer and coach, I've been thrilled to watch the U.S. Open golf championship this week. I love the game, and have been privileged to coach some great players, so this tournament holds a special attraction for me. As many of you know, this is one of the few world championships that is literally open to all comers. If you can play golf, you can enter. Entering, however, does not guarantee victory! Why the Elephants Dont Run A number of years ago, I had the rather unique experience of being backstage in Madison Square Garden, in New York, during the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus. To say the least, it was a fascinating experience. I was able to walk around looking at the lions, tigers, giraffes and all the other circus animals. As I was passing the elephants, I suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at any time, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not. I saw a trainer near by and asked why these beautiful, magnificent animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. How To Acheive Your Full Potential If you want to make more of your talents - live up to your full potential- you have to learn to use them. You have the power to change your habits- to acquire new skills and fully use the skills you now have. You canimprove your performance, your productivity, and the quality of your wholelife. Thinking for Success Thoughts are very powerful. An intention held long and hard enough will eventually manifest itself physically. A negative or positive action will stir up negative or positive thoughts long afterwards. Choice: Privilege, Opportunity and Responsibility One of my absolute favorite quotes is from Dwight D. Eisenhower. If you have been a subscriber for long you may have heard me use it before. Eisenhower said that, "The history of free men is never written by chance, but by choice - their choice." 8 Categories to Instantly Organize Your Success Strategy You're enjoying a perfectly shallow conversation with a good friend over coffee, discussing your oldest child's latest broken bone fiasco and how long it takes you to drive across town with the traffic these days, when out of nowhere he asks, "Do you ever wonder where all this day to day will lead? What are your goals in life?" The High Cost of Doing Nothing Cost is sometimes a difficult term to define. Here, we are not simply discussing cost as it relates to selling price, but rather opportunity cost. The web site, "Mentors, Ventures and Plans" defines opportunity cost as "The loss of the next best alternative whenever a decision is made involving two or more options". "Investing in Options" defines it as "Choosing the best alternative means that you can't choose the next-best alternative. Opportunity cost is the next-best alternative that must be sacrificed in order to get something else you want. Opportunity cost can be thought of as the road not taken." Inactivity, or doing nothing, is usually the highest price paid and is often associated with great opportunity cost. Inaction is usually the worst decision one can make, made from a base of fear. |
