The 3 Rs of Taking a Vacation Without Leaving Home
This summer, get away, without going away. Take a mini vacation right in your own home. You owe it to yourself to practice the 3 R's - recharge, relax and renew. *Have the post office hold your mail. *Turn off your cell phone. I know it's hard, but let theanswering machine pick up your calls. *Turn off your computer. This is tough too, but you musttake a break from business. *Rent a couple of travel videos of places you've wanted tosee. Don't watch the news or regular TV shows. *Rent a yoga, tai-chi, or meditation video. *Arrange for catering or take-out delivery. *Have plenty of fruits, healthy snacks and fresh drinksstocked. *Get a relative to take the kids (you can reciprocate later). *Take a long bubble bath and read this summer's hottest novel. *Arrange for a reputable massage therapist to make a house call. *Send yourself a gift basket. *Burn summer scented candles like Cantaloupe, Ocean Mist, Creamsicle, Hawaiian Paradise, Watermelon orLily of the Valley. We all need to get away for a short while and have time by ourselves or with a loved-one. Spending time relaxing can have an enormous effect on your well-being and reset your mind and body for increased productivity. I wonder if you could help me with a problem that just seems to be getting worse. I seem to blow everything out of proportion. I react so strongly to even small problems and always think the worst is going to happen. My friends tell me I do it, my husband tells me, and I know I do and I'm tired of it. Create Reserves for a Stress Free Life One of the ways I have avoided a lot of stress the last two years is to have a stockpile of birthday and all occasion greetings cards in my filing cabinet. When you work at home like I do, you try to have the least interruptions to your day as possible. These cards have saved the day on many occasions. I get them when I am out shopping, I look for the ones I love and sometimes I am able to make the most of sales and cut price items by buying them in bulk. Of course I make sure I also have a big reserve of stamps to go with them. Just Breathe - Is This Your Missing Link ? Breathing is the vital force of life. It is considered to be the mind-body bridge. Breathing is something that is done everyday, unconsciously; yet the majority of people do it improperly. When babies breathe, it is instinctive. Watching a healthy baby while sleeping, one may notice the deep breaths that are taken which fill up the diaphragm and move up into the lungs. As a person ages, bad habits are picked up, health often declines, nutrition worsens, and stress overwhelms the proper function of breathing. The word pranayama means "that which extends infinitely everywhere". It is the practice of prana or breath.
