Chronic Illness: The Enemy Within
There once was a man who wanted to teach himself how to sky dive? He bought a parachute at a garage sale, leased a plane and when the time came, literally jumped into his new adventure. As the man was free-falling toward earth on his very first attempt, he pulled the ripcord only to discover it was not attached to the parachute. Looking down at his fate, he was surprised to see a woman shooting up from below with a burned-out match held between her thumb and fore-finger. As they rushed by one another, the man yelled, "Whadayaknow about parachutes?" The woman replied back, "Nothing. Whadayaknow about gas stoves?" The fable above illustrates how many Christians act when faced with life-threatening illness. They ignorantly turn to man for relief rather then to God. That we seek counsel from man and not God in such times speaks volumes of how ignorant we are as God's children. We lack teaching to recognize chronic illness for what it often is, a spiritual attack against our body. Medical science acknowledges that 80% of all diseases, both psychological and biological, are psychosomatically induced. In other words, the source of most disease begins within our minds or spirits as thought-a perfect place for Satan to do his bidding. But, what the world calls psychosomatic, God knows as an unloving spirit from the kingdom of darkness. Behind every psychosomatic disease lies an unloving spirit, planting thoughtsof fear, despair, rejection, anxiety, worry, and whatever else Satan can get us to accept as true. Yes, evil can and does exist simultaneously within our spirit, right along with the Spirit of God, if we allow it. The deception begins as the unloving spirit whispers a thought promoting unrest, "I do not like myself." If we listen to its voice, if we accept the lie, our soul becomes polluted with the same mind-set (I do not like myself). Our body, operating through the limbic system, then begins to conform itself into that spiritual image, re-enforcing it both biologically and psychologically. Examples of psychosomatically-induced disease can include high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, infertility, irritable bowel syndrome, angina, fibromyalgia, Graves disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, asthma, Crohn's disease, obesity, multiple sclerosis, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and many, many more. God created us perfectly, but sin changes us. Every thought we have, be it good or bad, produces a chemical and neurological response within. So long as our thoughts have their origin in a loving spirit, the response in our body helps to maintain homeostasis (balance). When the origin of our beliefs originates from an unloving spirit, the response creates imbalance in our body, and we become sickly if we accept and live the lie. All of us have our spiritual strengths and weaknesses. It is part of our humanity. Temptation is a part of our daily lives as the forces of good and evil do battle for our soul. Satan knows our weaknesses and wastes little time in attacking us at those points. If your weakness lies in feelings of low self-esteem, Satan knows how to capitalize on it to cause you suffering. If you have difficulty in forgiving others, Satan knows how to use that defect to make your body rack with pain. If you struggle with worry and fear, Satan knows how to use these emotions to create tumors in your stomach and colon. He is a master at doing this. Drug manufacturers promote drugs by saying they offer temporary relief of disease symptoms, but they do not and cannot deal with the spiritual roots of the disease. Satan knows this. His plan is called "disease management," not "healing." Satan knows that by keeping you in agony, your faith in God could waiver or break. But even if you do not wavier in faith, Satan's greatest weapon against God is taking you to an early grave. This is what makes Christianity so excitng, so very much a living faith, because it is God who heals spiritually rooted disease through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The Importance of Honoring Mothers and Fathers With another year full of family events coming upon us, those of us that are lucky enough to have parents to honor will celebrate Mother's and Father's Day. We set aside one day a year for this, but it should be something we do everyday of the year, as commanded by God. There is a good reason for this, or else He wouldn't have commanded it! Mind Walls Walls as a blockade seem to be an integral part of our society. Almost from the beginning of man's pilgrimage here on earth, there have been walls which have bound and imprisoned mankind. These walls are designed supposedly to protect our society, to safeguard us from taboo and abnormal personality traits. But it should be considered that mankind down through the ages has deliberately and voluntarily erected walls to shut out segments of society. A Life That Is Purpose Driven I started reading the book "The Purpose Driven Life" about 45 days ago. This book is written by Rick Warren. It is one of the best books I have ever read and It has changed my life. It is a really good book and I am out there trying to get people to read it and acknowledge the difference it makes in your life. I had been waiting to read it since it first came out but I kept putting it off. It took my approximately 40 days to complete it and that is because he ( Rick Warren) wants you to sign a covenant with him stating that you will take that time to realize your life and path that God has chosen for you. I made the promise and the commitment and I took it to heart. I missed one day in reading that book and the very next day I read two chapters to make up for it. It does take you, going by his directions, approximately 40 days to complete. I started it around the time I wrote the article 40 days and 40 nights. 40 being represented in the bible and a significant number that God has used. I took the time to read this book every morning when I awoke, one chapter a day until I completed it. It has a lot of spiritual information and a lot of information period. I really loved it and I suggest everyone read it. I don't want to part with my book but I plan to buy at least three more for friends and family and have them pass it on. It is encouraging and enlightening. There are many things one will learn by reading what he has written and I feel it was totally God inspired. Psychotherapy and Spiritual Growth The teacher of the future....will be a master of integrating both of these pillarsthat normally operate independently of each other. The poor ego gets a bad rap.Historically, the psychotherapist has worked on helpingan individual develop a healthy ego while the spiritual teacher assists intranscending the ego.It is important to understand that ego is nothingmore than a Latin word for "I" -- so the therapist is assisting the individual in developing a healthy identity that isabsolutely necessary. Think about it...how can you transcend something you don't even New Every Morning I have almost died twice in my life. The first time was from pneumonia when I was 4 years old. I was hospitalized for a week and although I remember little of the experience, to this day I have to be diligent about my respiratory health because another case could be fatal. The second time was when I was 18, and I fully recall that experience. It was January 1994, and I was a second semester freshman at the University of South Carolina. I went to class and band practice, ate supper with my family, and studied for a quiz in one of my classes when I suddenly got violently ill. I still don't know exactly what it was, but it hit hard and fast. After a few miserable hours with no improvement, I finally ruled out a stomach virus and asked my parents to take me to the emergency room. Shamanism The shaman acts as a bridge. While in contact with life in other dimensions of the universe, they also use what is available in the local environment as an aid in returning a person, place or situation back into balance. Sinners by Choice God said, "Thou shalt not?" and we continue to tell God, "we will." We continue to prefer the terminal disease of sin over the eternal love and glory of God who wants fellowship with us. And, we are sinners by choice. Dimensional Shifts "Spirit is beyond the void of space. This realm, beyond the void, is not an empty nothingness; it is the womb of creation. -- Nature goes to the same place to create a galaxy of stars, a cluster of nebulas, a rain forest, a human body, or a thought... That place is Spirit." (6) 7 Ways to Stay Spiritually Balanced When we find spirituality, or it finds us, the experience feels surreal. We begin to feel like we're walking on a tightrope between two different worlds. We become ungrounded and loose touch with the physical side of life. When our spiritual mission becomes clear, it is even truer. Learning to breathe and to walk between these two experiences until they merge can be a tough balancing act. It's easy to choose and get lost in the new experience because it feels so good and so right. Regular aspects in the physical world seem less important and get set aside, many times incomplete. Halloween Rites For some of us, EVERY DAY IS HALLOWEEN!!! If you want to be unusual dress up as a nurse, secretary, grocery clerk or bank teller this year. Gypsy, vampires and shaman wanna-bes are everywhere already! Law and Order of the Spiritual Kind There is no such thing as a coincidence. Albert Einstein reasoned that, "God simply does not play dice." While we may not fully understand the reasons behind certain events, there are laws and order in the universe specifically designed to facilitate harmony and prosperity for all living things. Yet, as humans, we violate not only man's laws, but also the laws of the universe. It's as if an "insanity" bug has plagued the world community, which has now reached epidemic proportions. Perhaps that's because knowingly, or unknowingly, we choose not to live in harmony with the laws of the universe and as a result of our actions we experience failure, powerlessness and discord. Take for example one law ? the law of cause and effect. The Traitor Within Life is like an obstacle course in which we run like an Olympian athlete and at times getting nowhere. We exert a lot of energy trying to avoid life's ditches, jump over the potholes, leap across stumbling blocks, miss the dangers, and somehow sidestep the troubles. Of course, we could significantly improve our quality of life if we took the time to seriously think through our responses to situations. A load of troubles can be alleviated by a little forethought, a little preparation, and a little contrivance. The Slippery Halls of Perspective. As we walk these halls of Life viewing the world and ourselves through our limited and often times limiting perspectives, who can really fathom the depth of another? Didn't we all at one time believe in Santa Clause? Didn't we all believe at one time, that when we closed our eyes we disappeared? Didn't we all used to believe we were the center of the world? Where did those perspectives go? Are we now sure that we have it 'really right', or are we still clutching at temporary viewpoints and transient opinions, unknowingly defending mirages? Who can really judge who sees clearly? Who can really say who is deluded? Who is really in touch with reality? Perspectives change and for the most part do not belong to us, but rather happen to us. All perspectives are partial, and because they are partial, they are incomplete (even this one). Because they are incomplete they are in a sense, a lie (even this one). A perspective is one particular view point of one particular 'viewer' (person), from one particular space, frozen in one particular moment in time. One moment's perspective is also the next moment's food. But if we are going to share a perspective that is always a partial truth and also a partial lie, can we at least do so while holding the perspective lightly? Can we see through our own limited views, thus freeing ourselves from their limiting nature? Because all perspectives are by nature temporary and partial, can we simultaneously see from and also see through our own opinions, judgements, biases, views or perspectives? Consider: as you lay on your deathbed in your final moments, how important were those perspectives you defended through out your passing life? Where are those perspectives now? 7 Wake-Up Calls-Avoid Self Sabotage to Discover Wealth and Prosperity with the Angels of Abundance It's an almost unbelievable thought, but could you be getting intangible value from having less money than you'd like?
