Three Ways To Get A Prospect To Say Yes To Your Offer
Here are three proven ways that will increase your sales: 1. Implement A Risk-Reversal Strategy Before a prospect becomes a client, they want to be 100% sure that your product or service will work for them. They want to know that you will deliver on your promises. The prospect has never used your products and services before, so they may be a bit apprehensive. This is because they're taking a risk (whether financial or emotional) to try your product or service. You'll multiply your sales by reversing that risk. How do you do this? By implementing a risk-reversal strategy. This is as simple as having an uncommon money-back guarantee. It's a way of "putting your money where your mouth is." It gives the impression that you must have an outstanding product or service to be able to offer such a guarantee. Sure, you'll have clients that may take advantage of this strategy, but if you offer a good product or service then you have nothing to worry about! You'll find that for every client that takes advantage of your guarantee, you'll attract many, many more genuine clients just by offering the guarantee. 2. Showcase Your Testimonials If you have a great service, then there's no doubt you'll receive testimonials from happy clients. Put those testimonials on all your marketing materials. When prospects see client testimonials, it puts them at ease because it's proof that you deliver on your promises. When you ask your clients for testimonials, make sure they specify how your service has helped them, and what their situation was like before they used your service. This will make the prospect that's reading the testimonial to consider their own situation in relation to that client, and how your service can help them too. You can showcase testimonials on your web site, on the walls of your office, in brochures, or you can even make a booklet of all testimonials you've gathered, and enclose the booklet with any brochures or sales letters you send out. Before using a testimonial in your marketing efforts, ask for the client's permission first. To increase believability and enhance credibility, ask the client if you can add their picture next to the testimonial, as well as their company name, job title and web site address or phone number next to their name at the bottom of the testimonial. 3. Give Something FREE People love freebies. A "freebie" is another term for free samples, free gifts, free offers, perks or anything free for that matter. As a business owner, a freebie is an ethical bribe that you give to prospects and clients, for one or all of the reasons below: * To entice qualified prospects to sample your product or service because you're confident that it will lead to a sale if they like it. * To grow your in-house mailing list by getting the contact details of qualified prospects, so that you can market to them over and over again. * To showcase your knowledge, skills and expertise in order to position yourself as an expert and attract more media exposure and more clients. * To encourage referrals from your existing clients. * To increase client retention rates. Here are a few examples of valuable ethical bribes: If you're an accountant, you may offer a free special report titled "How To Stop An IRS Audit" If you're a consultant, you may offer a free newsletter or free half-hour clinic If you're a realtor, you may offer a free one-hour live seminar or TeleSeminar titled "Ten Deadly Home Buying Mistakes To Avoid" If you're a beauty specialist, you may offer a free make-up session or a miniature sample from your product range If you own a restaurant, you may offer a free drink with every main meal ordered If you're an author, you may offer an electronic version of the first chapter of your book for free If you're an interior decorator, you may offer a free demo on CD that shows how to decorate a house, step-by-step. If you're a dentist, you may offer a free 1000-word article called "Cheaper Ways To Maintain Your Teeth." Get the picture? Some freebies may cost more to produce than others or take more time to deliver. The overall objective is to make sure that the freebie costs little or nothing to produce, and that it turns prospects into paying clients. To make certain that it appeals to your prospects and clients, ensure that the freebie is valuable i.e. it should be something that solves a problem that your clients face or something that your clients actually want. Will your prospects and clients still need your services after you give them this valuable, problem-solving freebie? Of course they would! Your freebie is only a sample. What this means is that your service probably solves lots of problems for your clients but you base the freebie on just one or two of the many problems. For example, as an accountant, your clients come to you because of tax issues, bookkeeping issues, financial reviews etc. Your free special report titled "How To Stop An IRS Audit," doesn't cover the other problems or issues that your clients come to you for. The special report is based on a narrow topic. These three elements are not the only strategies you need to grow your business exponentially, but implementing them will certainly increase your sales. Apply these three strategies diligently and watch your sales and profits explode. Copyright © 2005 by Habiba Abubakar and Emprez. All rights reserved. Failed Salespeople Share Similar Traits We are each responsible for our own success - or failure. Winning at a career in sales is no exception. To ensure a win, you must take a proactive approach. Prevention of failure is an important part of that process. If you find yourself saying "I'm not cut out for sales," "I'm not pushy enough," "I hate cold calling," "I can't take the rejection," or "My manager is a jerk"-you are heading down the wrong path. Evaluating Your Customer It is one thing to make a sales presentation, but it is another thing to make a sales presentation without first evaluating your customer. For all you know, you could be selling your customer something that they already have, or something they don't want, don't need, or can't afford. Probe Before You Sell When selling a product to a customer, it is very important to find out as much as you can about your customer and their needs before you proceed with your sale. Assumptions ? The Hidden Sales Killer Assumptions can kill a sale. In my sales training workshops, I frequently discuss the importance of not making assumptions about a person before, during, or after the sales process. Participants frequently nod and tell me that they NEVER make assumptions. One person (Doug Maquire, www.MaquireMarketing.com) sent me this story of a situation that occurred in a department store he worked in many years ago. Boost Your Sales With These Proven Responses Make More Sales By Creating How To Use It Product Updates Do you have any idea what your customers have experienced from using the products they have purchased from you? Most of the vendors I work with make a sale and move on. They often don't bother investing much time improving the products they sell to their customers, much less develop ways to help them better understand how to use them. A very small minority of vendors have continued to send me unsolicited free bonus 'how to use it' follow-up emails and publications long after I made my purchase from them. And whenever I receive something like this, it almost always compels me to take another look at the product I purchased ? because anything that helps me understand more ways to use what I already own is pretty useful to me. Elearning Is Dead - Long Live Blended Learning! There is little doubt that eLearning has not achieved the success it promised some ten years ago, even though the primary benefits in terms of cost and flexibility remains extremely attractive. Some of the mistakes that have been made are: Build Rapport by Mirroring Traditionally, salespeople look for something in the office that begs a question. For example, "Is that your sailfish on the wall?" Getting People to Buy Without Selling In my youth I landed a job selling encyclopedias door to door. I worked for commissions. If I didn't sell anything, I didn't get paid. Trying to sell a high ticket item such as encyclopedias door to door was no small task as you might imagine. How to Make Training and Development a Power Agent for Change Does this sound familiar? With high expectations, you sent your employees or yourself to a training or personal development program. Six weeks later you're not sure if it was worth the investment. What went wrong? The Multiplying Factor In Sales Success Mark has an attitude! Mark had worked in an operational capacity in the plant of a mid-western uniform company for over eighteen years. He had held almost every job in the production end of the business, from janitor to purchasing. One morning the owner of the company called Mark into his office to discuss a new job assignment. Mark was floored when the boss asked him to become the company's sales manager and take over the marketing department, which included the areas of sales and service. Mark had never sold before, nor had he managed more than a couple of people in his operational assignments. Now he was being asked by the owner of the laundry, at my recommendation, to supervise a sales team of three people, a route sales staff of nine and three service managers. My recommendation was primarily based on my observations of Mark as he gave me a plant tour a year earlier, as I started my engagement with this client. How to Build Rapport in 7 Seconds! I had my first official sales training by a man who believed in being very assertive, almost pushy. At the time this conflicted with my reserved nature, and for the next 6 months didn't even make one sale. 5 Steps to Selling Anything Technical One of the most difficult things we deal with as tech companies is trying to sell our services or products to prospective clients, would you agree? A major problem we face is conveying why our future clients need our services using terminology they will understand and pay attention to. One of the sales secrets I am going to let you in on, is that you can make sales without the client even knowing the name of your product or service or ever saying a word like: Search Engine Optimization, gigabyte, meta tags or even computer. How a Best Buy Sales Clerk Taught Me the Simple 6 Step Formula to Close ANY Sale! Follow this story... Peak Performance One of the best books I have ever read is a 1986 classic written by Charles Garfield; Peak Performers: The New Heroes of American Business. Garfield spent nearly twenty years trying to figure out what causes some people to excel to amazing successes, while others bask in the glow of mediocrity. Attitude Insurance Everyone knows the importance of having a positive attitude, especially in the health insurance industry. Even negative people say that they have a positive attitude. The Power of Confidence My experience has taught me that people want to buy from sales people who are confident in their abilities. Taking control of the circumstances and situations around you will develop your self-confidence. When you consider the amount of rejection that many sales people encounter, the fact that many salespeople lack self-confidence is not surprising. Top performing people in any industry typically possess a high level of self-confidence. They may not necessarily possess this confidence all their lives. Reaching Goals in Direct Sales From surveys and experience, we've noticed many setting excellent goals for their business. We've also noticed that while the goals being set are good, the results aren't. Around 90% of those in Direct Sales do SET goals, but never reach them. Be Yourself Here's the thing... you still have to make every marketing and sales message all about the WIIFM* for your target audience. But it's how you do this ? the words you choose and your behavior ? that makes the connection with the marketplace all about you. Maximize Sales and Minimize Returns with Learning Styles In the day-to-day operation of an online business we can sometimes lose sight of what we want to achieve as opposed to how we actually go about achieving it. For us to achieve our goals of financial independence and time freedom we need to have customers. Most peoples understanding of customer acquistion stops at this point. |
