Detailing The Famous Kentucky Derby Train
The annual detailing of the Kentucky Derby Train is an annual ritual for the beautiful long sleek historical piece of American History. It may seem easy to detail such a fine piece of machinery, but it take many man-hours and they expect it perfect. Such a job is sure to inflate the egos of the company with the contract and make some ice pictures for their portfolio. My company, The Detail Guys were commissioned by the Top Brass of CSX Railway to clean and Detail The Kentucky Derby Train for the 129th 2003 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY. So many famous celebrities have made the journey to Churchill Downs over the years on the Kentucky Derby Train that you could not possibly mention them all. Several Presidents, Future Presidents, Governors, Leaders of the Free World, Entrepreneurs, Industrialists, Movie Stars and Persons of Notice have made the journey on The Kentucky Derby Train. CSX realizing bids the job out each year for the annual ritual of the detailing of the Kentucky Derby Train. They ask tough questions and demand perfection. Luckily they picked our team as a valuable vendor worthy of the crucial and important job, also knowing of our environmental Best Management Practices to prevent wastewater run-off awarded us the contract this year. The Detail Guys cleaned and detailed the most famous party train in the United States, perhaps the world in record time for an important date in the annals of history. We also did it without a drop of pollution using our great products and environmental procedures another thing CSX are sticklers for; they care about the environment and anyone who works with the company knows their policies are some of the toughest in the industry today. Not a drop of wastewater was even allowed on the ground; seriously. The annual running of the Kentucky Derby is the largest and most popular of all events in Kentucky, drawing spectators from all 50 states and 35 countries. After 129 years of this annual event the tradition is quite impressive still. This years Kentucky Derby winner was a 50:1 long shot. The Train leaves from Florida's First Coast and travels to the Kentucky Derby in first class Five Star Style for the running of the Kentucky Derby and then returns with several important stops along the way. We are so proud to have been able to create the shine for the annual historic trip. And this Kentucky Derby was one of the best ever experiences for the attendees and the individuals fortunate enough to know the right people for a place on the Train. God Bless this historic event, train ride and the people who have made it possible and so great through all those years. This truly is what makes America so GREAT ! Why PR Can be Effective Medicine When properly applied by business, non-profit andassociation managers, public relations "medicine"does something positive about the behaviors of thoseimportant external audiences of theirs that MOSTaffect their operations. PR: A Potent Force for Success What's REALLY potent for a business, non-profit or association manager is public relations' ability to alter individual perception leading to changed behaviors. And then, to persuade those key outside folks to the manager's way of thinking, and help move them to take actions that allow their department, division or subsidiary to succeed. Publicity: Write a Letter to the Editor for Free Publicity Ever wonder why papers devote a page or more to letters to the editor? Because subscribers love to read them! Possibilities Of The Blogosphere For The PR Industry In Spanish-Speaking Countries Only two media in Spanish speaking countries offer RSS: the Spanish newspaper El Mundo and the Argentine Clarín. Although the blogs are becoming more visible in the media and are becoming a research topic, still they are something of small "evangelist groups", who promote its use? but this can change in little time. How PR Helps Managers Win Anything that lets managers achieve their managerial objectives is a winner. Add Some Firepower to your PR Sure, as tactics usually presented to business, non-profit and association managers, special events, brochures and news releases are fine. A Natural Phenomenon? Really? Sure. What else do you call a human discipline whose very nature is firmly rooted in the principle that people act on their own perception of the facts. Then goes on to create, change or reinforce that opinion by reaching, persuading and moving-to-desired-action the very people whose behaviors affect the organization? Managers: Can We Agree on This? Your public relations effort really should involve more than press releases, brochures and special events if you are to get your PR money's worth. Dealing With Reporters in Your Small Business It behooves you to know and remember the names of reporters. Reporters know everybody. They talk to and interview people constantly. Because of their job, they usually size people up in a matter of minutes, sometimes without even meeting them face-to-face. If first impressions ever count, this is one first impression you don't want to mess up. Be sincere, polite and try not to use slang. How Marketing-Minded Financial Planners Get Publicity You've probably noticed, if you live on this planet, that we live in a media-driven world. Pot Roast and Public Relations (or, How Your Web Site Can Be Your Best P.R. Tool) Recently I had a craving for pot roast. I racked my brain to think of a restaurant that offered a great pot roast (as you can see, I'm not a whiz in the kitchen). Anyway, I did what I usually do when I need to find information ? I searched Google for "pot roast boca raton" to see what restaurants came up.Well, only one restaurant's menu that featured pot roast came up. I had never eaten there before, so I phoned them to make sure they still had pot roast on the menu (alas, they didn't).But here's the bottom line: I would have become a new customer at this restaurant -- because it offered what I wanted -- and I learned about it while searching the Web. This underscores an important point: every business needs a Web site. Very simply, you never know when potential clients will be searching on the Web for something they need ? and the name of your business or organization will come up.Here's an example. The other night, I got a phone call from a writer in California. She was doing a story on P.R. and my name came up on her Internet search. If it weren't for my Web site, she never would have found me -- and I would have missed the opportunity for publicity. Here's another example. One of my clients told me that a potential customer had decided to do business with his company because of the high quality of its Web site. If you don't think your business or organization needs a Web site, consider this: quite possibly, this very minute, somebody out there is searching the Web for something he or she needs that you can provide. Your Online Newsroom: How to Give Reporters a Tip It's hard to imagine a reporter working today who doesn't regularly visit "official" company websites. And it's hard to imagine just how much those websites have improved reporters' lives. Making Great Announcements When do you use the newspaper for publishing announcements for promotions or new partnerships? PR: Am I Getting a Good Deal? You are getting a good deal when you accept the fact that the right PR really CAN alter individual perception and lead to the changed behaviors you need. Financial Planners Garner Free Publicity by Making it Easy for the Media Would you advise clients to buy a stock based on the say so of an investor relations person, or something you overheard at a restaurant? Of course not. You want to see at least some independent research before suggesting it be added to your clients' portfolios. How PR Helps Fiercely Competitive Managers Fiercely combative business, non-profit and association managers use every PR weapon they can lay their hands on. Which means they employ strategic, rapid-fire print and broadcast tactics every day of their business lives. PRs Big Bang Theory Lots of theories out there about public relations. Want To Join the Bandwagon? Be Sure It Has Wheels! Here are two to-the-point questions recently posed by several association magazine publishers: "When is it time to launch an electronic newsletter?" and "Just because everyone's doing it, does that make it right for us?" Television Reporters - Questions to Ask Before Agreeing to an Interview Prior to a TV interview it is guaranteed the journalist involved will spend time preparing, writing down questions or goals for the interview either quickly or more in-depth as well as conducting some background research. As the interview subject it is important to undergo a similar preparation process to make the most out of your media opportunity.By asking your own question you are able to perform at your best and be prepared for the interview. Foolproof Publicity for Marketing-Minded Financial Planners They'd hate to admit it, but the media is pretty predictable. |
