Great Melting Pot Indeed
An interesting conversation that I thought I must share with you. Today in a coffee shop in the United States of America the subject matter turned to South of the Border. We discussed the politically hot topic of Illegal Immigration to the US from Mexico. In our discussion we both agreed that all of our ancestors came here from somewhere else. Of course many of us have at least some native Indian in our bloodlines. Since we are the great melting pot, which I pointed out to my new found conversationalist, shouldn't we be melting? He then turned to me and said; "oh, we are the great melting pot; we are melting illegal aliens with US citizens!" Interesting statement indeed and of course he had a point. If we go back far enough we are all related, yet we have sacrificed much to build this great nation and we must protect our civilization and protect it from collapse. Economically or from; enemies foreign or domestic, that is the promise of our government, is it not? Indeed it is; we both agreed. Now then how can we melt such different value sets, thought processes and cultures? Well, we have had harder melts in our populous in the past so anything is possible. Yet my friend went on to ask another question. If an illegal alien is here illegally; illegal being the operative word then they have broken the law and are now a criminal. So if they melt with an honest citizen then the offspring are what; Criminals or Honest children? He then went on to describe a Hispanic family; Mom and two sons who broke into a warehouse in broad daylight to rip it off. They were not only illegals, they were caught and sent to jail. Well, I said that is where they belong right? He said; "yes of course but who is paying for that?" Then he went on further to tell me that if they broke the law to get here and do not respect our laws, why would you trust them to not break other laws of our land? I completely lost my argument and his point is well taken. Will you please think on this for me? Let's discuss the thinning of the forest based on Grid Modeling and ESRI Software ARC Info modeling. We need to look at several layers of overlapping data to take into account many things such as Biomass Thinning and pre-commercial thinning of trucks less than 12 inches. Accessibility Requirements for Fair Housing Policy Anyone Awake Out There? As we reel from the news of the recent bombings in London, England, it is incumbent upon all of us to examine, seriously, why such attacks by Islamic Extremists are occurring. We cannot combat what we do not understand, let alone try to wage an effective war against such an insidious enemy. Oil Pipelines and Rates of Flow How much oil can travel through a pipeline? It depends on the upon the pounds per square inch, dimensions of the pipeline, gravity, and dynamic pressure of the fluid behind the fluid you are measuring. In the Netherlands, they are using water pipelines to move data to a central point in then onto the Internet. The water pipelines now have more intrinsic value. They have the value that they have always had, providing the water remains of the same price plus the bandwidth possible by using this existing infrastructure to now move data. North Korea and Diplomatic Solutions; Random Thoughts Part I You know now that North Korea is backing down on their nuclear ambitions we seem to have a problem with the 8 nuclear weapons already created that no one wishes to address. In studying the reports and having thoughts on this matter; it seems we might still end up in a war over these issues. Should we use warfare to serve our political will and if we try we should do so in a cost conscious manner. Here are some thoughts on winning a military victory against North Korea to serve our political forthwith. First it would appear we have many allies in the region, including some from not so far away. Pakistan a potential partner in the over taking of the government is just iching to flex it's perceived military might and make friends with us after we got upset at the non capture of Osama Bin Laden and kind of asked about why he might have hidden briefly in Pakistan. One CIA man has potentially targeted Pakistan as aiding and giving comfort to our enemy there? But Pakistan also wants some F-16s and of course we want them to buy such aircraft from us. Meanwhile the Israelis see China as a good market to sell the latest warfare technologies? But who might China be looking at as it builds up its forces, it has no enemies that large? Or does it; as in the United States? Advances in Nuclear Energy; Safe, Clean and Reliable The newest pebble reactors are easy to build and manage and have extremely high out put considering their small size, perfect for islands set down wind from populations. Unfortunately the Three-mile Island and Chernople incident make populations feel uncomfortable with Nuclear. Therefore the increased regulations have made the cost of construction almost not worth it. The ROI of a nuclear power plant could take as long 150 years. This is so unfortunate seeing how great Nuclear power is and how clean it can be when handled correctly. For this reason in the past three decades no new permits have been granted and we continue to have a large percentage of our power coming from fossil fuels which is a problem for air quality and long term it has many issues such as acid rain. Freedom on the Internet Throughout all recorded history on our lovely little planet, Earth's human beings have been concerned with a few main ideals. One of these is the idea of freedom. Freedom, what is it? What does it mean to you? To look at it simply and in context of communication, I'd say that it is the right to express oneself within certain moral boundaries. Recently I have discovered that the incredible tool of the Internet is being infected by some of our imperfect human beliefs (a sign of the perfect balance in Nature). Check out a website called 'Reporters Without Borders'. This site is dedicated to both freedom of speech for the masses as well as to the safety of the people who are trying to share true unadulterated stories with the wider community. In the site's Internet section I came across a new article about MSN Spaces, the blogging software from one of America's and the world's biggest companies, Microsoft. Well, it seems that in China they have agreed to have the words 'democracy' and 'Dalai Lama' completely rejected by the system, therefore censoring every on-line journal in China using this software. Looking at the Dalai Lama I don't get a feeling of hostile intent... Pilot-Less and High Speed Train Transportation Systems; Better Strategy Needed We recently saw another ferry accident, this one in NY when the pilot of the vessel fell asleep, which may have been a medical situation or condition, but never the less, accidents like these would be prevented by pilot-less transit systems. This would be no problem with modern technology. We know in the future this will be an accepted method and fully safe. Why Do US Media Ignore Secret UK Government Memo On A Mega Iraq War Conspiracy? The blogosphere has been jumping around the story like crazy but it seems the mainstream media are doing their best to ignore it. Yet it's been branded the most extensive case of governing-level conspiracy plotting in ages. CNN spent very limited time on it and that's also a pretty accurate indicator of the attention most other media outlets have devoted to it so far. Even though some 88 members of Congress openly inquired about it and a few other US opionion leaders spoke out against it. But that was it more or less. What was? A recently leaked internal UK government memo dated July 2002, that was so secret extra copies could not be made, not even for internal use. Ohio Department of Transportation; Sector Economic Reality Ohio's transportation sector seems to be strong, even with Ohio's outrageous attack on the trucking industry. That one has to be politics. One State patrol officer told us that they are suppose to pull over 80% commercial and 20% private vehicles. This means on Friday nights when you have drunk drivers if you pull over 2 cars then you have to pull over 8 trucks, well at 2 am, that just might be half of all trucks. Then of course having to justify yourself you look around for a way to write a ticket? The True Power of Terrorism Those of us hundreds of miles from ground zero sat glued to our television sets with horror and disbelief as two of the tallest buildings in the world slowly disintegrated in a violence of dust and death. North Korea and Diplomatic Solutions; Random Thoughts Part II North Korea and diplomatic games; something has to give and negotiating with those who renege on promises in treaties is a problematic issue for the United States. Here are some additional random thoughts on this issue which span a few years of off and on thinking on the matter. Why Dont We Listen To Entrepreneurs? I just got done reading a series of articles dating from December 2000 to September 2001 (pre-9-11) regarding Larry Ellison's bush to get the government to link all it's databases. Now everyone agrees, but now we are post 9-11. I wonder if Larry Ellison as loud as he can be sometimes ever stood up and said I told ya so? He would have every right to. He warned us. Gates did too, maybe not as verbal about it or graphic as Larry Ellison described the government's computer databases like a file cabinet where one drawer was here and another across the ocean in china in a dim lighted room. New York Lawyers; Vindictive Government Prosecutors We all know Elliot Spitzer is going to run for governor. We can see he is very vindictive in his endeavors. However have you asked yourself; Since when is it okay for someone who is an Attorneys General to act out the way he does? We are seeing more and more abuse of power. I personally know someone who emulates Elliot Spitzer who is a young up and coming rising star in a Federal Agency, who would in fact go out of their way to falsify documents, make threats, hide their identity, and attack reputable folks on behalf of competitors and for reasons of self gratification and future job titles and kudos? Feeling Squeezed by Political Correctness I'm starting to feel squeezed by all the political correctness being imposed on us by both the Left and the Right. Both sides are constantly trying to infringe on our freedoms by telling us what we can and cannot say or do. I'm getting sick and tired of it. Below are just a few examples of what they are trying to impose on us. Federal Trade Commission Will Not Monitor MLM Companies Having been to every city in the country over the population of 10,000 in the last four years I have been noticing a trend. I have seen Multi-Level Marketing folks hard selling their business opportunities in public presentations. Listening to these sales pitches in nearly every coffee shop I have step foot and stayed for more than one hour; it is now obvious to me that these MLM people are making at least 25,000 to 40,000 of these presentations per day in public places. This estimate includes presentations being made at college campus dorms and at dinner tables at private homes and residences. During these meetings these MLM sales people say things like they are doing 'Private Franchising', never mentioning the words; Multi-Level Marketing, which many consumers are onto now. Instead they use the more well respected name of "Franchising" but franchising is a legal definition and is nothing close to what they are peddling. End Of History? Not Quite A visitor to Moscow would be immediately struck by the fact that an otherwise dull Kremlin now seduces one to break the sound barrier in a mike, rediscover one self on a Compaq or simply feel Warner in a Pringles. If this is not enough then there is always Chairman Mao in Tiananmen Square calling upon workers and peasants to not only carry forward the revolution but also gulp down a Sprite, while they are at it. Numerous more examples abound from the Adriatic, so what does it all signify? Is it truly the end of History? Do we now see a time when a matter of ideology is drinking a Coke or a Pepsi? Closer introspection would reveal that it is not quite so. Public Sector Economies in Transition In the previous article, we described the various methods developed in the West to cope with the ever-burgeoning public sector. NAFTA; What did we learn? A quick look back at NAFTA; how did we do? Globalism and a Conspiracy The globalist's are the new breed, the new generation if that is what I can call it. The new internationalist might be better. They all think they will find salvation in humanism, or in man himself. I say good luck chumps. Globalism has planted these seed a generation ago, or so, maybe longer, but they started sprouting a generation ago. It calls for the control by governments by a government, to control our wealth, resources; as the United Nations would like to have done, had Kerry made it as President; internationalize the US to their liking. The wealth and resources are somewhat control anyhow, the internationalist have been busy. |
