Steel Import Tariff Taxes Hurt Industry, Not Help Them
US Steel prices have cost franchisees in my company and our team thousands of extra dollars due to the import taxes, which were imposed. Let me tell everyone when they raised the cost of steel we were forced to seek to build the truck beds out of other materials, and once businesses do that many times they never go back and thus the steel industry is forever damaged. Steel is a strong substance and good for building things out of but it is heavy, costs gas mileage, rusts, leaving iron oxide streaks on the exterior paint. The only reason steel is still used for so many things is that the cost is still less than other materials of it's same strength, watch out in the future for nano tubes, five times lighter, three to 100 times stronger by volume. If the steel companies in this country cannot run more efficient and get their labor unions to perform efficiently to compete with these future materials then we cannot expect other industries to use it as the material of choice. In our company, we can build the beds out of fiberglass, plastic or composite in the future nano-tubes. In our company we will be able to build uni-body shells and make them more ascetically pleasing. So when International Trade Team negotiators or an administration decides to set forth import taxes or artificial price increases to save an industry they need to be careful that they do not inadvertently hurt other industries. The steel industry better get their act together if they wish to survive the next two decades or start investing in the new materials themselves. We need Brazil as a trading partner, we need Japan's economy to return to growth, which is a tough one due to their aging demographic. We should not give a crutch to an industry that is not innovative and lets their workers kick back and do little if any work. Likewise we should not expect such a huge and able workforce to work with their hands tied behind their backs with over regulation such as the insanity of the OSHA standards and laws. Their union is strong and they do not believe in hard work ethic like the competition in their industry from abroad, and all methods are challenged in free markets. We should not support laziness and give a company or small group of companies an edge. Giving away free fish makes even the best of us lazy. Let's get our trade policies right? Let's not make asinine linear decisions with trade. We are all in this together and in free markets survival is about performance, if you have a weak industry and you help them stay lazy they will be moved aside eventually anyway, you cannot hold up inefficient industries forever. I saw a great picture on the front cover of the NY Times where the Politicians were busy having a party congratulating themselves for getting a bill passed in the Senate. Problems in the Media I am noticing an increasing and alarming rate to which the media journalists in all forms use the media for public opinion and not for news. Whereas this is not all bad, it is bad when it is purported as news and not public opinion. The questions of interviewers are public opinion and often very jaded. As I watched the AP news and look where the news is coming from for instance "AP-San Francisco" a story about the past Governors Race in CA, it seems that the article was so jaded it is not even relevant. Entrepreneur Lashes Out at Linear Thinking Government Regulators I am personally calling for a total disbanding of the regulatory agencies as we know it immediately. This needs to be done from the inside out. We need an immediate cut of 1/3 of all regulatory personal. They need to be fired without any benefits. Those who have enough brains to understand my comments should immediately quit the agencies because they are destroying America from the inside out, like a plague, a cancer, disease, SARS or AIDS. By quitting their positions they can show America they are with us, and leave the International Terroristic Regulatory Agencies out to destroy us for their own personal fame and gain. It appears to be runaway abuse of power in a Virtual Reality Blue Goo Blob which has a mind of its own and could care less about those it is suppose to serve, us, the ones who created it and for the most part are suppose to own it. The regulatory agencies have obviously run out of targets and are attacking and over regulating good companies. I am also calling for a fight in the courts and that every company fight the agencies on every single issue brought forth and to hang tough spend the money and draw swords to fight these evil monsters back to the gates of Hell. (colorful comment? But has some truth to it, cannot fight with soft spoken words any longer, nor would such soft words do justice). How Futuristic Is Anarchy As A Way To Organize The State (II) Any chances for a country to be ruled by alternative rule will always be zero because -as many economists, philosophers and scientists claim- the way the various parts reality consist of interrelate is dominated by forces we won't in a billion years have any chance of controling. Defending Middle Eastern Oil Refineries and Assets An idea to defend oil infrastructure in the Middle East may need to take into consideration some of the available close at hand opportunities. For instance creating a mote like perimeter and filling it with oily, seawater and chemical polymer chains or "Goo" and then covering the mote with a layer of sand. This can be done easily by digging the mote, 100 feet wide and 10 feet deep and lining it with a plastic bottom. Then increase the underground pressure and drilling down and allowing the salt-water, which has been pumped in, to flow out into the newly dug lined mote. Elliot Spitzer Sued By Feds It appears the Feds are suing Elliot Spitzer over his lawsuits in the Mortgage Industry. The New York State Attorney General, Elliot Spitzer is getting sued by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The NY AG's abuses of power has been noticed by the Federal Government as the lawsuit against the mortgage industry by Spitzer appeared to be a power play to extort more money from the deep pocket companies. Elliot Spitzer still doesn't get it and NASA is shamed to have telescope of the same name. The Spitzer Telescope is bringing back incredible pictures of our galaxy and beyond. Some say Elliot Spitzer's lawsuits are out of this world? The Gay Male Agenda for Political Dominance I would like to pose a question. I am unsure if you have noticed what I have with regards to Homosexual males in the United States, but sense they are moving their agenda faster and faster and we are seeing more and more Corporations are catering to this group.
