How to use NLP for Business?
What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming? Neuro-Linguistic programme is nothing but the study of human excellence. It is an art. It teaches you to be at the very best. It can change your life once for all. Neuro refers to your nervous system, the mental bridge of senses through which you feel, taste, hear, see and smell. Linguistic refers to our ability to use language, gestures and habits that reveal your thinking and belief and Programming refers to the way you can program your thoughts and behaviour much like a computer which is programmed to do specific things. NLP was invented by John Grinder a Linguist and Richard Bandler a Mathematician, Psychologist and Computer Expert. Richard Bandler and John Grinder studied 3 psychotherapists who were consistently outstanding in their field like (Doctor Milton Erickson the greatest hypnotherapist of all times, Virginia Satir an outstanding family therapist and Gregory Bateson a British Anthropologist) and developed this method which is applied in business, sports and personal development. NLP helps you to create a successful future for you. It can clear all your negative thinking which is holding you back. 1. First find out what you want to change. It may be a habit, behaviour, a thought, proscrastination, attitude whatever it may be. 2.Now you have to establish a communication with that part of you which needs a change. It is very simple. Put yourself in a relaxed state what we call it the Alpha State. Relax every portion of your body, your muscles and focus on the breath. If any other thoughts interrupt just ignore them. Don't worry. Thoughts are always there. An average person has 60000 thoughts a day. Most of them are the same thought you had yesterday. The time you were born till the time you die you can't do anything about your thoughts. But you can alter your thoughts any time. That is where NLP works better. 3.Very carefully listen to your self talk. Ask why that particular behaviour is given much importance. What is the ultimate goal to have the behaviour. Find out what benefits you have achieved having that behaviour. Now see what happened from the time you started till now and see the positive and negative. Now visualize in your screen of your mind what was it like before the particular behaviour started. Where you happy, relaxed, calm and serene if so see how your situation has changed. If you are nervous, anxious, frightened and depressed start to compare your past happiness with the present pain and suffering. 4. Now create an alternative behaviour to change your present situation. It can be anything. You can change your negative thoughts to positive one. Instead of hatred and anger you can create in your imagination love and happiness. The choice is yours. Use your creative imagination. 5. Now the part of you that was responsible for the old behaviour is responsible for generating the new behaviour. It is like anchoring love and Serenity to your past hatred and restlessness. Once again use your creative imagination. Spend 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at night for 28 days to change a particular behaviour. Listen to your self talk and make changes which will enhance your life. Affirmation 1. I will elimate hatred, envy, jealousy, anger, fear, doubt, anxiety and develop love for humanity because the negative attitude towards others can never bring me success. 2.Say the Lords' Prayer. It is full of positive affirmation. Winston Saga is one of the world's leading sales legends. He is also the CEO of Sales and Motivation International. I use a mnemonic to describe the seven essential steps to work leader success. The mnemonic is "L.E.A.D.E.R.S" and each of these letters represents an essential step. While I have simplified the elements of leadership into seven words, the essence of my message is that being an effective, peak-performance work leader is simple, but not easy. The Most Important Thing Youll Ever Do The wellspring of confidence is belief. When you believe in something, you accept and have conviction about the truth, actuality, or validity of that thing. When the belief is about you, its called self-confidence. Self-confidence is your belief that you can marshal your physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual resources in the successful pursuit of a goal. Time Management Tips for Managers Late last year I was presenting a workshop for the senior managers of a major organisation. Whilst doing a pre-workshop survey to assess the challenges these managers were experiencing it became very apparent to me that many of them were showing the signs of business burn-out. And it was no wonder why. They were suffering from 'Priority Problems'. Quite simply they were making the mistake of doing the urgent rather than the important tasks. Four Ways To Make the Case For Outsourcing How do you convert outsourcing leads into clients? You may need to make the case for outsourcing. Designing Your Healthy Administration - A Management Overview Management or Leadership? Listening Strategically Usually, we're most interested in communicating outwardly; getting our messages out to others. But finding ways to hear what's going on around us can be just as important. Time for Change - Clearing the First Hurdle "Here is Edward Bear, coming downstairs now, bump, bump, bump on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. It is, as far as he knows, the only way of coming downstairs, but sometimes he feels that there really is another way, if only he could stop bumping for a moment and think of it." Understanding Every Aspect of Your Organization GET TO KNOW YOUR ORGANIZATION: If you don't understand an aspect of the organization or a procedure within it, ask. If you still don't understand, ask again. Question until you are sure you understand the topic. It's easy to feel your questions aren't sophisticated enough, especially when you work with people who have been doing what they do for years. Start with basic questions like "What does our organization do?" "How does our organization do it?" "Who needs our product?" "Who does what with that product?" "Who are the people who get the work done?" Most long-term employees love to answer questions that make them feel smart, and valuable. Implementing Change There are different reactions that individuals experience during time of change. Understanding the emotions of an individual may better help them get through the period of unexpected change. A possible reaction is anger towards person(s) responsible for or involved in the change. One may return to old habits, the familiar comfortable way of doing things, avoiding reality and denying the change. Thinking becomes rigid and new ideas, methods, structures, etc., are perceived as threatening so one withdraws from the situation. Unlock the Hidden Creativity of Your Employees To release creativity in employees, managers must get involved in their employees' work. Look at each employee as if he or she is the expert on the job and tap into their creative energy. A Checklist for Organized Executives I could begin this article by providing a checklist of organizing techniques for you to incorporate into your daily work routine. The goal would be to become and remain organized, improve your time management and reduce your stress while increasing your productivity. This checklist could include items such as managing incoming information, keeping the desktop free of clutter, creating a user-friendly filing system, etc. And I suspect there are many other organizing and time management consultants out there who could provide something similar. But I want to share a different type of list with you. How to Create a Trusting Manager-Employee Relationship BUILDING TRUST AS A MANAGER: 1. Be reliable. Follow through on things. Keep your promises. 2. Have ethics. Telling your people the truth and don't reveal their confidences. Being fair and honest with employees. 3. Show respect for your employees. Treat them as adults and show appreciation for their ideas and for the work they do. 10 Steps Towards A Stress-Free Introduction Into Management Becoming a manager for the first time can be an unnerving and sometimes stressful experience. In many cases, organisations expect you to immediately jump into the role and begin to perform as if you have been there for years. Also, you may have been promoted "out of the blue" and as such have not taken part in any "succession planning" that would have prepared you for the management role. Budgets that Damage - The Downsides of Making the Numbers In my organisational career, I had budgets from the age of 22 to 47. I lived and breathed them and many times, budgets, the gospel that they were, caused havoc, albeit within the corporate retailer framework that I worked. Here are two examples of the damage caused. Middle-Aged Managers, the Forgotten Digital Divide The digital divide is defined by the role computers play within widening social gaps in our society, as the condition of one group having an advantage over another group in regard to computers, technology skills and Internet access. I Said Pareto Chart? Not Potato Chart! Does this sound familiar? You were hired for the new management position. You were tasked to turn the numbers around. You take some time reviewing the current situation. Now it's time to take a look at the current processes and get your staff together to analyze the data. You tell them that you want to brainstorm; work on a few mind maps, whip out a couple Ishikawa's to get started and then have them bring Pareto charts relative to their respective functions. Is Your Business Ethical? Ethics - in a profession or trade - is that branch of philosophy which studies the principles of right and wrong in human conduct. |
