Winning the Thought Battle
If you have read my articles or heard me speak, you know that I always comedown to action. We need to act if we are going to be successful! Yet, our success starts long before our actions. In fact, our success beginsin our thoughts. The process is that thoughts become actions and actions produce results. Sothe equation starts with the thoughts. So the key to success is to startwith and control the thoughts that we have. Good thoughts become goodactions become good results. But there is this predicament we have as humans. It is this "battle" we havewith our thoughts. Thoughts of depression, negative thoughts, thoughts offear etc constantly creep into our minds and cause us to act in certain waysthat are going to produce the antithesis of the kind we want that willproduce success. So what can we do to win the battle with thoughts? Here are a few mainpoints. Apply these immediately and then constantly and you will be on yourway to winning the thought battle. Guard your mind. Pretend that behind that forehead of yours is a veryprecious thing ? your mind ? because it is precious. If you had a storehouseof gold in your house, you would hire an armed guard to stand watch and keepall the bad guys out. Yet, many of us let any old ting come into our minds. We need to keep the bad thoughts, the negative thoughts O-U-T! Now when Isay this, I mean both the ones that start in our heads and the ones thatcome from external sources. Proactively place good thoughts in your head. Just like a garden, where youweed, or pull the bad stuff out, and plant, put the good stuff in, so we dothe same thing with our thoughts. Buy tapes and music that will producegood, happy thoughts in your head! Watch TV programs and videos that putgood thoughts in your head! Avoid the naysayers. They are all around you. You work with them, you livenear them ? some are even in your family! Whatever you do, do not let themaffect you with their negative thoughts. Spend as little time as you canwith them (unless it is your spouse or kids ? then you need counseling!) Act on the positive thoughts that you do have. When a positive thought comesinto your head, act on it! This will begin to produce a "bridge" betweenwhat you think and how you act! This will then make that transition eveneasier as time goes by! Four key ideas to win the thought battle:Guard your mind.Proactively place good thoughts in your head.Avoid the naysayers.Act on the positive thoughts that you do have. Go forth and Win the Battle! I have always been fascinated by the concept of "wishing.", especially "collective wishing." If enough people wish for the same thing, does it make it happen? For instance, humans probably always wished that they could talk to each other without having to "go there" physically. Perhaps the invention of the telephone was actually the result of a long-standing collective wish from days of the caveman. From the long lensed perspective of human history, the telephone, which literally manifests far away voices into thin air, truly is a magical object. The Author Within You! I always had an active imagination when I was young. I hated school, and would pass the time away day- dreaming about things I should not even have known about at such a young age. I used to make up stories in my head, that would always have me as the centre of attention, like collecting an Oscar for a Hollywood film that I had starred in, or recovering from a major operation or accident. I think I was like this because I was a shy kid who lacked a lot of confidence. It was no different when I started work. A Key In Hand Is Worth A Thousand On My Desk A key fault I have, and I can only talk about one fault at a time, is the tendency to get busy. I often find myself chasing my own tail. What I will do with it when I catch it is beyond my understanding. However, this notwithstanding, I fall into the trap time after time of getting too busy for my own good. I Dont Like This You always do this wrong, how many times would I have to tell as to how to do the thing right, don't you understand to what I say, I am talking to you, are you listening to what I am saying. It would have been much better if I would have done that myself. Now go. My Passion, My Life Every morning I excitedly get out of bed. The Most Important Investment You Can Make For Your Old Age - And No, Its Not Money! When I was twenty-two, I was befriended by a woman named Doris who was thirty years older than I was. Although Doris was then a fifty-two year old woman, she did not feel it was inappropriate to befriend me. She did not operate with the social belief that she should choose her friends only from people her own age. We became very close friends and remained so until her death at the age of eight-two. For Inspiration Watch a Kite Fly Against the Wind Given a steady wind and a properly balanced kite, the kite will soar to great heights. But if the nose of the kite is pointed downward, the same wind will send it crashing into the ground. Blessings and Art of Living My perception is that universe infinitely blesses us every moment. Why we do not acknowledge is that we are not consciously aware of it. For example you start in the morning to the office, the breeze that touches your body; the surrounding climate, the ambience of office etc are all the ways that universe conspires to bless. What we need on our part is to simply be conscious of it and the doors for infinite blessing of the universe opens. Simple things have enormous capacity to bless us, heal us but we not open to the vast in and around us and get caught in our own hypnotized worlds. What opens the blessings is awareness. Hold loose of yourself from your self created reality and simply be aware of every little thing that you come across. A Bit Of Turbulence Direct Answers - Column for the week of July 1, 2002 Discernment and Judgement Discernment is an inner guide or compass. It is loving and expansive, and offers freedom, honor and options. Judgment on the other hand dishonors, condemns, and contradicts. My Journey I believe it's important for you to develop a mission statement for your life; one that is unique and articulates your values, goals, dreams; how you want to live. Inspirations: Even More Things Ive Noticed Along the Way So Far Some people live in and talk about the past so much it's as if they are "planning for the past." Each Moment Is To Be Treasured Let us grasp and treasure each precious moment of our lives. The previous moment is gone and the next is on its way. In truth, all we ever really have is this exact, precise moment in time. |
