Tim McGraw had it Right - Live Like You Are Dying!
Chorus:An' he said: "I went ski diving, I went rockymountain climbing, "I went two point seven seconds on a bull named FuMan Chu""And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter,"And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying."An he said: "Some day, I hope you get the chance,"To live like you were dyin'." One of the latest songs by Tim McGraw talks abouta man in his forties with cancer. Who began tolive his life has if he had only days to live. Andall he hope for others was, "Someday, I hope youget the chance, to live like you were dying." Areyou? Are you living a life like you are dying? Idon't mean in the physical sense, how about thespiritual realm. The bible talks about dying toself by living for Jesus. Each day we are challenged to make decisions thatlead us away from Jesus or directly towards. Yet,which seems easier? Dying to self takes sacrifice, trust and faith in God. It also means letting goof the things of this world. I have always tried to live my life with noregrets when I look back at the end of the day.And maybe on my tombstone it will say just thatsimple phrase, "No regrets". Yet, one of thebiggest daily challenges I face is dying to myflesh or things of this world. And the only way Ican win the over them is ask Jesus for help. Whenwas the last time you just awoke in the morningand ask, help? Help me Lord today to live for youand not for this world. Be with me Lord everysecond this day and help me make decisions thatbring me closer to you." Each day brings new decisions and new challengeswhen pursuing a relationship with Jesus and itmeans we have to die to self each and everyday. But, it also means we are promised tomorrow, lifeis not to be taken for granted. It could change ina moment like it did for the guy in the song. This week love a little deeper, speak a littlesweeter and if you need to forgive when you weredenying doing it. It maybe then when God in heavensays to you, "Someday, I hope you give yourselfthe chance, to live like you were dying." Greg Ryan is a best selling author of the Changing from the INSIDE OUT series. Selfish Beings Trouble, trouble, trouble. Nothing but trouble. The night before, I was just talking to a friend-cum-feng-shui master about the direction of my life. The horrible things that are currently going in my life right now. The things that could go wrong, is going to go wrong or has gone wrong. I spent a total of 3 hours complaining, ranting and raving about how unfair life is and how come others who are close to me or my husband can afford luxurious lifestyles. How come they have 2 family cars and we have to share 1 car. How come they can afford to have four computers for the four family members of their home. The youngest being barely 3 have her own computer at all ? like she's got tons of work to do on her own and absolutely needs her own computer, you know what I mean? I was just ranting and raving about how my kids have to fight with me for the computer ? me rushing things out for my clients and my kids sitting right next to me, waiting for me to finish with the consistent but patient enquiries like, 'Mom, are you done yet?' or 'Have you made enough money yet?'. The Spectacular You I recently received a letter addressed to Spectacular Rachelle Lee. At first I thought it was a joke. Who would write such a thing? I then thought maybe it was a mistake. Whatever it was, I knew it did not feel comfortable. It turned out to be an advertisement, for what I am not even sure. What I am sure of is that the way it was addressed caught my attention, and I realized how difficult it can be to own just how spectacular I am. Keeping Your Attitude Up When Circumstances Are Down Everyone knows that a positive attitude is key to the successful life. But what happens when things go wrong? What happens when circumstances deal us a blow? We have a tendency to let our attitudes take the dive along with our state of affairs. Life deals us setbacks, both minor and major, on a regular basis, but if we are going to be successful, we need to know how to deal with them and keep our attitudes intact! We need practical tools to help us understand how we can go about keeping our attitude up, when the circumstances are down. Here are some thoughts to help us do so: Don?t Give Up! Don't let anyone kid you. The road to self improvement and personal growth is not a short, straight, well-marked, paved highway. Looking back on my journey, I see a road meandering over hills and through valleys, around sharp curves and over muddy trails, with occasional boulders blocking my way. I can remember taking detours that took me off the beaten path and on to cow paths that wandered seemingly forever through the puckerbrush. It's been a long interesting journey. What Does it Take to Make Life Better? What does it take for you to pay attention? The Information Age Direct Answers - Column for the week of December 1, 2003 A Prison Planet I decreed my 'twin' into my life in early 1990. It is a story I tell in other books but I think even Edward House would have a hard time topping my gifts. She was the only woman with a brown card in California when she sat on the Governor's Blue Ribbon Panel on Prison Reform. A brown card allows you access to all Penal System buildings. She had once been put in prison because the FBI could not catch her Mafia bosses who had duped her and many others in a Huntington Beach land fraud. She would not testify against them until they were behind bars because the Mafia goons had threatened to kill her two young daughters. It is a horror story of corrupt bureaucracy to say the least. Begin With the End In Mind - Tips to Make Your Life More Meaningful What would you change if you knew you would be dead in 1 day? Would you spend more time at work, pouring over budget figures, and trying to figure out how you were going to make this quarter's numbers? Would you read just 1 more e-mail from a complaining co-worker? Would you check your voicemail one last time? What would your obituary say about your life? Hitler and the Tsunami In Catholic school the nuns used to tell us that we should love everyone as we loved Jesus. We didn't have to like them but we had to love them. I used to argue this and my trump card was always Hitler. How could I love him and, by the way, why would I want to be a part of any religion which said I had to? Surefire Ways to Develop a Thankful Attitude Spend some time thinking about how good you have it. We know this, but we don't often spend time pondering it. Doing so will shape and mold your attitude and develop healthy thought patterns that will make you more thankful all of the time. I'm sure you've had the experience of challenging your client with something to do, or to be, in service of moving them closer to their heart's desire.
