If You Think Mold and Mildew Hibernate During The Winter, Think Again!
If You Think Mold and Mildew Hibernate During The Winter, Think Again. Free Tips For Removing Winter Mold & Mildew Stains From the Makers of InstaGone "The development of mold and mildew stains can actually be intensified during the winter," says InstaGone Consumer Products president Peter Chicarielli. "That's because people tend to lock-down their houses to prevent cold air from coming in and heat from escaping. The reduced circulation of fresh air results in a higher concentration of airborne spores which in turn, can increase the likelihood of mold and mildew stains on ceilings, walls or other surfaces." Chicarielli adds that in a warm house, mold and mildew will continue to grow in areas such as basements, attics and crawl spaces. "Once the Christmas decorations are put away, emerging mold and mildew growth has a free, undisturbed ride until Memorial Day when the summer gear gets pulled out." The worst-case scenario is mold that silently grows behind a wall, under flooring or above acoustical ceiling tiles. 'This type of mold growth is usually caused by a leak that wasn't repaired properly, or if it was repaired, the surrounding area wasn't sufficiently dried or treated before covering it with new drywall, tile, etc," explains Chicarielli. "If any part of your house has water damage history, it should be inspected carefully." Chicarielli has been clipping newspaper articles about families being forced to move from their homes and school closings due to toxic mold. But despite the media hype, he believes most of the mold people encounter is the harmless, gross looking variety. Therefore, he recommends that everyone step back and take a pragmatic, preventive medicine approach. "The jury may be out on what the health effects of certain types of mold are, but the fact is that there is usually a point of origin and mold growth is a fairly slow process." For those concerned about mold and mildew, Chicarielli recommends a simple, four-step plan that should be followed all year long: 1) Inspect ? Look for early signs of mold and mildew in places such as basements, shower areas, walls that house water pipes, ceilings, etc. 2) Repair ? Fix plumbing leaks, drain clogs, roof leaks or poor bathroom ventilation that can encourage mold growth. 3) Remove ? Treat emerging mold and mildew thoroughly with a powerful cleaning product such as InstaGone Multi-Purpose Stain Remover. 4) Restore ? Once mold and mildew stains have been treated with an effective cleaning solution such as InstaGone, let the area dry thoroughly, apply a mold resistant primer and repaint the area. Chicarielli strongly recommends the use of long rubber gloves, non-vented goggles and a chemical respirator to limit your exposure to mold. "If you have an area of mold larger than 3 feet by 3 feet, have severe allergies or have been experiencing symptoms such as headaches and difficulty breathing, it's best to avoid the health risk, and call a certified mold remediation specialist immediately." Add Value To Your Home With A Home Improvement Loan Buying a home is a big and important investment for most people, and understandably property owners want to keep their home in good condition and looking great. Gas Stoves - Pros and Cons Gas stoves are those preferred by professionals. The heat distribution is more even than that of electric stoves, and heat precision is more accurate. For example, if you turn down the heat on a gas stove, the heat change is immediate and precise, where as on an electric, the heat change is more gradual. A gas stove also creates less overall heat. This doesn't mean that it won't cook your food as fast, it just means that you will have a cooler kitchen. Since it produces less heat, you're stove top will also be cooler which will prevent unnecessary burns. Since the flatness of the stove top must be very precise in order to have even heat distribution, you have to be very careful when purchasing an electric or smooth top stove. Whereas with gas stoves, the flatness is not important, because the heat is coming from a flame and not the pot's direct contact with the stove. Gas stoves also produce a moist heat, which can be good for when you are cooking roasts or casseroles and don't want them to dry out. Interior Design For Couples Interior design for couples is one of the hottest, most popular types of design these days. In the past, men have not taken the initiative to actually be involved in the interior design of their homes, often resulting in very female orientated, elegant designs that are beautiful although not exactly appealing to the Saturday afternoon football crew. This type of design is often beautiful and can be ideal in certain situations. Although, more and more men today are interested in helping to decide what their home looks like on the inside! It works better if it is 90% isopropyl alcohol, but there is no danger in trying the ones that are 70% if that's what you have available. Whichever you use, remember that ink stain removal is always easier if you treat the stains quickly. Just follow the steps below. Spring Into Action: Home Maintenance Spring has sprung! Even more important than buds, birds, and bees, spring brings buyers! When buyers are looking for a place to nest, they would really rather not see problems. As it turns out, nearly every home inspected has problems or imperfections of some sort or size. Most issues are very minor and simple to correct. Almost all are a result of deferred maintenance. Breaking Away from White Wall Paint Paint is one of the most affordable and easiest ways to change a room. But choosing the right paint colors for your home can seem like an overwhelming task. Flooring: Installing Ceramic Tile Ceramic Tile brings a texture, richness and color to a room that Linoleum has yet to truly mimic. Tile floors can be installed in any room, however they are most frequently seen in Bathrooms and Kitchens. I particularly like them in entryways, where they serve as a transition point from the outside to large carpeted or hardwood floored rooms. They make for easy clean up and are impervious to water damage. What is Design Psychology and How Will it Help Me?
