It Pays For Single Christians To Date Other Like-Minded People
Searching for the perfect mate can be one of life's greatest challenges. Afterall, forever is a long time. You want to make the right decision. Dating itself can be really trying. It can be hard to find the right people. What if they don't share the same values and beliefs that you do? How do you handle that and when? Wouldn't it be easier to know ahead of time that they are Christian, just like you? Wouldn't it be easier to know their respect for God and other people, values and beliefs, mirrors your own? I know my own dating experiences were trying at best. My stomach used to churn before hand. I'd be so excited to meet new people, only to cringe as that feeling was replaced with absolute, crushing hopelessness as the person demonstrated a trait I knew I just wouldn't be able to tolerate. If they said something snide about children and my being a parent, I knew it was over. If they weren't pet people, it was going nowhere. If they were vulgar, ignorant, not funny or if God didn't have a place in their life like mine, what could we possibly have in common? A few incidents come to my mind. The dental hygienist who chain-smoked. The girl who didn't shave her legs, her armpits and didn't wear deodorant (it took a few dates to begin to figure this one out). I remember one Friday night where I thought I had met someone with real potential. She was highly educated, respectful and thoughtful. Several dates later, she showed up at my house with an open bottle of wine, already drunk. And then she stormed off when I mentioned concern that she had been drinking and driving. So how do you find the right people? How do you at least give a first date a chance, by taking the time to get to know people coming from a similar place as you? The workplace can be a popular source, if there are lots of employees and some that believe in God as you do. But what if you work too much and don't have time to meet people? Or, what if meeting people is quite a scary experience, and you'd like to find a "like minded group of people", that you can get to know via email first before actually meeting? The answer, more and more, is the Internet. Never before has the world's millions of singles, been able to find sources of other singles who are just like they are. The best part is these specific sources of singles can be pre-determined ahead of time. For instance, you'll know you're talking to someone who is Christian, because you found their ad on a Christian singles site. Make sense? Much easier than trying to make these discoveries of values and beliefs over coffee or dinner. You can further refine your search by specific age ranges, kids or not, divorced or not, white, black, location, income level, career path, Yankees fan or not (very important!), etc. I finally found my Soul Mate through a personals ad on a website. We lived in different communities but on the same island (20 miles apart). More importantly, our hearts, beliefs, values, sense of humor and general outlooks were very similar. And we knew that before ever meeting. It was wonderful courtship. We married the next year. And to this day, many years later, we laugh that the first date never ended. You too can have this experience, when you find a source of like-minded people to start to get to know. Drew Harris runs Single-Christians.net,a huge source of like-minded people. The chances are, both of you are likely to be still stuck at the very initial stage of a relationship. Well give it a thought. Recall the conversations between both of you in your recent dates or so. The first date is not a marriage proposal; it's merely an opportunity to measure compatibility. If it doesn't work out, you will have spent all that cash on a fancy restaurant and red roses for nothing. Unfortunately, the IRS has not declared bad dates to be tax deductible expenses. No Saturday Dates after Wednesday What? You say. No Saturday dates after Wednesday? What is this 1952? Well no it's not, it is 2005 and sometimes old dating rules still apply to later times. Why does it matter you ask? As long as he's asking you out then it shouldn't matter. If he's asking you out that means he's interested, who cares if he calls you Friday afternoon for a Friday night day. Right? Online Dating for Beginners There are many online dating sites, all of them require you to be at least 18 years of age. The two that I really liked, were Match.com and Yahoo Personals. Match.com is probably the largest online dating site ever, it allows you to create a profile, and search for other profiles for free. You can also send winks (basically a notification that you like someone's profile) to other people for free. In order to actually send emails to other users, you need to be subscribed, which costs a small monthly fee (this can range from $9.99 to $29.99 depending on the site). The Dating Game Now you all know I have become a bit cynical in regards to dating lately. Especially since my last burn. Now I feel like I am getting over it, got the closure and now I am moving on. But the hurt still raises it's ugly head every now and again. A little reminder will pop up every once in awhile. I got to the point where every time I would think about the ex, I would say to myself he must be thinking about me, then I think, good let him wallow in it. I will be just fine. So it has been a little over a month and a half. Since I found out what kind of man he was. I have decided to try to put myself back out there. Every time I go through a bunch of crap with a guy, I sit and think, I should've stayed with my ex- husband, at least I know all his faults and his positives too. Well that lasts all of about 5 minutes and then I get over that too. He is a good guy, but it didn't work for a reason. Want To Be A Success In Dating? Dating a Non Christian Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? -2 Corinthians 6:14 The Best Way to Pick Up a Girl You see her across the room. Ah, so attractive. But nobody to introduce her to you. 'Ah, I'll do a James Bond on her,' you think. Now what was Bond's first words to Pussy Galore? 'I must be dreaming.' No, that won't work. How about singing 'Underneath the Mango Tree' to her as Bond did to Honey Rider in 'Dr. No'. Ah? No! Well, what's left? You'll just have to go up and talk to her, if it's a situation where you won't see her again. But it's always safe to assume that she has a boyfriend that can squeeze the stuffings out of a gold ball. That aside, take a chance and make polite conversation. What's the worst that can happen. She says, 'I'm sorry, I'm not available.' and you save the time and money of a date with her. Like George Burns says, 'When a beautiful woman says 'no' to me, it's a relief. The Cyber Lothario Are you writing to someone who is romancing you off your feet? Does this guy seem to know just what to say or write that gets you a step or two further down the garden path? You Might Be A Stalker If.... Okay, so you wanted to know what your boyfriend or girlfriend was doing last night. And you needed to go to the grocery store anyway, so you thought since you were 'in the neighborhood', you would just drive by his or her house. Or you called your new love and he or she didn't call you back. So you called again. And then again. And then several more times. Could you be a stalker? Let Women Talk and Help Women love to talk (just think of how long they talk on the telephone). Women like to help (just think of a typical "female" job: nurse, kindergarten teacher, geriatric nurse...). Combine those attributes and you got a talk up and running by asking the woman: "Could I ask you for help? Could you tell me why/what/how/...". Ask her any question you like as long as the question is non-answerable by a simple "Yes" or "No".Believe it or not, but maybe you have failed in your last dating attempt because you maneuvered yourself into dead-end answers. If you ask a girl "Have you been long here?" then practically anything she can answer is a dead end. She could answer "No, not long" or "A couple of minutes" but both answers do not lead into a nice conversational flow. Many men (since men are practical-minded) want a "clear and simple" answer. For dating purposes that kind of "questioning strategy" is absolutely wrong.Train by simply re-phrasing some of your question. Wrong: "Do you like this place?", right: "What do you think about this place?". You get the idea. In other words: Let her TALK. (This is just a simple example and I am not telling you to ask women that question).Or ask her something like: "What do you think is the most common flaw men have?" or "I am writing for dating-forum.com. Could you help me by telling me what feature your ideal man should have?". Let her talk for hours. Typical "open questions" start with Got Attitude? Probably you do have attitude, but what is it? Jaded, self-protective? Frightened? Is "scared to death" too strong? Online Dating Tips for the Digital Age of Romance We are romantic creatures. We are social creatures. With these two elements sharing our genetic code, we have little choice but to seek out someone with whom we can feel free to share our romantic gestures. In the Stone Age, this was accomplished much the same way as any survival technique (i.e., hunting and gathering). In the Industrial Age, the biggest change was that we looked and smelled better during our pursuits. Now, in the Digital Age, we are more efficient with our techniques, electronically speaking, however we have also proven that the human species has not changed a great deal on this fundamental level. Christian Dating Service and Dating Services A Christian dating service can help single Christians meet one another and find companionship that is based on Christian principles and foundations. A Christian dating service can help thousands of Christians meet, and sometimes marry, others who share their values and faith. The Internet is an incredible access point for those looking into dating services. Now, most dating services begin with online applications and postings, letting email be the beginning point of a contact. Not every Christian dating service has the same philosophy, and not all dating services truly have a member's best interest at heart, but, with some research and investigating, signing up with a Christian dating service can bring new friends and a potential partner into a single's life. Little Known Dating Tips, Secrets, and Dating Mistakes I hear it over and over-"It was going so great, and then she disappeared on me? why? What happened-we were having such a great time together. I'm tired of this happening-I want to date sexy women, but I want them to stick around. Do you have any dating tips for me?" Filtering Values in the Dating Game Ever noticed that when dating, no one really wants to takethe first step and open up a dialogue on a subject with depthand substance?
