Create A Gift Basket For A Dog Lover!
The choice of what gift to give your family and friends can often be a difficult one. One of the best gifts that you can give is a gift basket. A gift basket is that one present that comes in many shapes, themes and of course price ranges. A gift basket can also be a new arrival gift idea. The diversity of gift baskets is never-ending. You can give a doggy gourmet food gift basket or a bath and grooming necessities gift basket. In fact the different type of gift baskets you can create is endless. Here is a simple basket that you can easily create yourself for that special "Dog Lover". Pick a basket style. I like to use either a bucket or use a dog basket. There are a lot of choices on the market so choose between one with a handle, with two side handles or without handles. Make certain the basket is large enough to hold the gifts you have selected and of course if it is intended for the dog to sleep in it, large enough to accommodate the dog. Choose a color that complements the dog lover's home decor. If in doubt, choose a neutral color by selecting a natural wicker basket. Next select a variety of items that have a dog theme which will later be packed into the decorative basket that you have chosen especially for the recipient. When selecting the gifts for the dog lover choose items with dog themes such as dog calendars, coffee mugs, computer mouse pads, T-shirts, note cards, stationery, dog magazines, include fiction and nonfiction books and picture frames. Select some doggie bones and dog chew toys for the pooch or pooches. To add a little extra to your gift basket for the Dog Lover include: A cap with the dogs name embroidered on the front, some sunscreen for when they are out walking together and a poo catching holder for the collection bags; If you are on a budget try a small basket and include: A picture frame, a disposable camera to record an outing with their pooch, a record book to record events, a photo album, along with a voucher for photo finishing. When you are finished, wrap the Gift Basket with cellophane paper and a nice ribbon to give it a finishing touch. Use shredded paper inside the basket to hold the goodies in place. Tie a humorous gift tag with a message for that added touch. About the Author: Donna Hamer is the author and publisher of eBook "101 Gift Basket Ideas". Treasure Hunting - Part Two Treasure hunting begins at home. People regularly find famous old books and valuable antiques in their attics, so get up there and look. One couple opened their walls while remodeling, and found them insulated with thousands of old and valuable movie posters. In the thirties a theater owner ahd put them there. The couple sold $200,000 worth of the posters, the last I heard. Plastic, Zinc, Brass, Embossing and Marking Stencils Marking Stencils A Playtime Project: The Memory Quilt A friend recently suggested a use for my daughter's first wardrobe, which I've dutifully saved in the back of the closet, and lugged on two long distance relocations. Kona Cotton: The Quilters & Embroiderers Dream Fabric What, Exactly, Is Kona Cotton?Kona(R) cotton is a premium, 100% cotton broadcloth from Robert Kaufman Fabrics in Los Angeles. The company introduced the fabric in the 1980's in response to the then rapidly emerging quilting industry, an interest that continues unabated today. It is a soft, light fabric, often called the 'Quilter's Cotton', that is also ideal for fine apparel such as children's clothing; soft, comfortable shirts; dresses; applique and home decorating. It has a 'meaty' hand, which means you can really feel the difference when you touch the fabric and that makes it a joy to work with.Warps. And Wefts, TooKona cotton has a high 60 by 60 thread count. This means there are 60 warp threads and 60 weft threads per square inch of fabric. Until I did some research, I didn't know what warp and weft threads were. (I had never even heard the word 'weft'.) A warp thread is a support thread in the loom, long and strong and usually tied down onto the loom; a weft thread is passed back and forth between the warp threads to form cloth. It is that high thread count, all those warps and wefts playing together, that make Kona cotton a soft, light, yet very durable material; one of the best woven fabrics available for hand or machine quilting.Pre-use CareIt's a good idea to launder the fabric to remove any sizing/finish before using it in your project. Treat it as you would any new 100% cotton fabric: Gentle wash, mild detergent, tumble dry low, remove promptly and iron. Expect about a 1-3% shrinkage. What About Color?Kona is available in plenty of colors, 170 solid colors according to the manufacturer's web site, RobertKaufman.com. And a quick search for 'hand dyed Kona cotton' will pop up vendors offering hundreds of colors and patterns of beautifully dyed Kona cotton fabric. But Aren't You an Embroiderer?Yes, I am a machine embroiderer and those same qualities that make Kona cotton ideal for quilting and sewing apply to machine embroidery, too. That meaty feel I mentioned makes it very easy to hoop and quick to stabilize. The push/pull factor is minimal and, best of all, the stitched out designs are gorgeous on it. Even though there a many cheaper fabrics, I test all my embroidery designs on Kona cotton and turn to it first for any finished embroidery project I have.
