How to Make $100,000 Dollars as a Personal Trainer ? Part A for Attitude!

My name is Greg Ryan. For the last twenty years I have counseled thousands of personal trainers, fitness directors and gym owners on how be successful in the health and fitness industry. No matter where I go in the world, no matter the size of the gym the biggest reason for their lack of success is all the same. My question is, "Do you want to be a mediocre Personal Trainer or do you want to be a GREAT one?

Most of you will only be good ones if you are lucky. Only about five percent of you will be GREAT. What I mean by being a great personal trainer falls into three categories: love what you do, self employed and make a six figure income consistently. Here is how:

Part A: A is for Attitude

Sold Out:

You must have a SOLD OUT attitude. Do what ever it takes and be in the profession for life. If your clients detect you are not, you will never make $100,000 a year.

Humble is what Humble Does:

Leave your ego at the door. People can smell ego a mile away. This is the biggest killer to trainers, coaches, directors and owners success. Let it go or let your money go. It's just that simple!

Serve:

Give the client more than they expect. If you don't someone else will. If you do not have a servant's heart they will serve you right out the door. You will never make $100,000 with a ME attitude!

Here is the Intro to my e-book ? "It's NOT about the Numbers!"

People! I was told the answers would be found in the gyms and in the class rooms. After years of listening, learning and taking my lumps, I found a much different arena than I had expected. I searched for a manual for guidance. I looked for the glamour and money that was promised to me. But in the end what I found was a treasure chest filled with experiences of things one might not anticipate.

For the Professional Trainer

This book is mainly for the individual who thinks they want to make a career out of being a professional fitness trainer. Guess what? Most won't! This book is for the scholar who hides behind all his/her degrees, thinking book smarts is automatically going to put you on the map. Guess what? They don't! And this book is for the hard body who let's his/her ab's, biceps and ego speak for their heart. Guess what? They don't.

For the Health club Fitness Director

I found as a Fitness Director you can have some of the most popular, highly skilled, in shape, educated staff members in the world, but if you don't have the ability to listen to your club members, the numbers will eventually eat you alive, if you know what I mean. This book is for you too.

For the Health club Owner

It's Not About The Numbers, title of this book may sound foreign. You are probably say, "You are wrong, it's all about the numbers." You may also say, "This book is not for you, it is for personal trainers." Yes, you are responsible for paying the overhead and no, you hire the trainers. I am aware of both. However, along the way, I discovered something much different from the anatomy charts, weight benches, and calorie books I had so much come accustom too in school. Along the way, I learned something that setting in my office as the owner would not teach me. So this book is for you too.

In over two decades of fitness training of movie stars, world class athletes, the average Joe, classroom education, business, and health club management, nothing has taught me more than the PEOPLE. This book is not about egos, class rooms or pie-in-the sky pipe dreams of glamour, fame, and fortune. It's not about cash flow, membership drives, or trendy equipment.

This book is about the PEOPLE side of personal training.

It's Not About the Number's is a book about the A, B, C's of being a great personal trainer, not just a mediocre one. This book is not intended to exploit those who have only book smarts, nor does it single out just the experienced gym rats. It is about having not only book and street smarts, but more importantly, knowing the behaviors of people. Even though I have both, book and street experience, I would not take anything in trade for the ability to read peoples behaviors.

I am not sure people skills can be a learned behavior, but maybe you can learn from my costly mistakes. Some would say I have had a dream career, and maybe so. But, what I would say, while one of the most challenging professions there is, I would not have or will do anything else. I am SOLD OUT! Are you?
