Success: Cant Achieve It By Yourself? Pay A Professional!
So many people go through the motions of trying to achieve success. But just going through the motions doesn't work. And while you may fool a few people for a little while, you can't fool yourself. If you truly want to be successful and can't achieve success by yourself, do the smart thing and pay a professional to help you. It's unbelievable how many people will spend money on the most frivolous of things, but decide to close their wallet on those things that can most help them further their career. I really believe that's why so many people are enamored with the search engines. Because of rampant hype, they mistakenly see it as a way to promote their business to millions of people, without having to spend any money--not realizing the search engines just don't work for the vast majority of businesses! And I can't even count the number of e-mails I get every day from people asking me for free advice. Do I give it to them? Sometimes, I do. It really depends on how busy I am at that particular moment and how they approach me. There's an old saying, "it takes money to make money!" I personally spend hundreds of dollars a year on business and marketing books, magazines, e-books, etc. I consider the money I spend a well-placed investment in myself. Do I always get my money's worth from the books that I buy? It depends on your point of view. I've been in marketing for over two decades, so I've learned a lot over the years. And most of the time, I usually only pick up one or two little nuggets I can use, from the many books that I read. However, those one or two little nuggets are usually solid gold that invariably helps me earn thousands of dollars in additional income. That's why I don't look at how much I have to spend, I look at what the end result will be. And quite frankly, if I have to spend $500 on a book, if I feel that book can help me significantly increase my income, I'll buy it. That's what most successful people do. They don't just look at the price. They look at the end result. How about you? How much do you invest in yourself? If you don't know anything about Internet marketing, how much are you willing to spend to learn? If you don't know anything about copywriting, how much are you willing to spend to learn? Granted, there are a ton of free resources and tutorials available to you on the Internet. But quite frankly, freebies can only take you so far. If you want to be successful, you have to spend some money. There's just no getting around that. Perhaps you don't want to take the time to learn about Internet marketing, but you want to profit from it. Fine. Then pay a professional to do most or all of the work for you. Perhaps you don't want to take the time required to learn the finer points of copywriting. Fine. Pay a professional to write your copy for you and reap the benefits. That's the way the world works. It's always been that way. If my toilet breaks, I don't worry about trying to fix it myself, I call a professional. If my car needs fixing, I take it to a professional. If I need a haircut, I go to a professional. If you can't or don't want to do the job yourself, pay a professional to do it for you. After all, the only thing that really matters is the end result, right? About The Author Dean Phillips is an Internet marketing expert, writer, publisher and entrepreneur. Questions? Comments? Do you realise that if you're green you're growing and if you're ripe you're rotten? So says Winston Marsh, Business Marketing Guru in his recent newsletter. Increase Your Intelligence With Music You Are What You Listen To Every Obstacle Always Presents an Opportunity In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand! Coaching Skills and Positive Motivation There is one important point that is often missed in the discussion of Coaching Skills: Effective coaching is a great deal more than just problem solving. Many people misinterpret coaching as only a corrective process aimed at specific error and deficiencies of an individual. Actually, the use of coaching skills doesn't always have to be driven by problems. Challenges, opportunities, and obstacles that transcend any one member of the organization can be the motivating force. This type of coaching is very exciting to do. It is less personalized in nature and therefore not as stressful or tense. Although it does require certain skills, mindset, and approaches used in problem solving, it can be applied to positive coaching, which is designed to empower employees to go farther and contribute in new ways. Sorry Dr Maslow, I Think You Got It Wrong In the 1950s Abraham Maslow published a book entitled " Motivation and Personality" in which he outlided his now famous Hierarchy of Needs. Over the years since its publication Maslow's work has gained wide acceptance as a tool in understanding human motivation. It has been used in areas as diverse as Consumer Marketing and Christian Evangelism,as well, of course, psychology. Maslow rightly holds a place of high regard in many circles. After July 8, Pay This Amount You undoubtedly go through this, too. A few times a month you gather up the bills coming due and write checks or pay them online. Difficult Challenges? -- What If? Sometimes life can seem like one long series of unsolvable problems. I know there have been times when I would much rather find something else to do and quit whatever I was doing simply because it was too much trouble to continue. In fact, earlier in my life that is exactly what I did do. (And to tell the truth, I wouldn't change it even if I could!) Is Coaching Everything That It Is Cracked Up To Be? Personal or business coaching has helped thousands change their lives and achieve their goals. Yet, for the sceptics it still is a fuzzy concept with little recognition for its benefits. If your organisation offers a mentoring program, sign up and get involved. If there isn't a formal mentoring program, suggest one or identify people you would like to learn from and approach them about mentoring you. If you are going to approach someone about being your mentor make sure you present yourself professionally and show your prospective mentor that you are serious and committed by having a mentoring plan in place. Is Coaching For You? More and more people have less and less time, but have greater demands both personally and professionally. This situation has resulted in the emergence of personal coaching within four basic areas: Financial, Physical or Fitness, Life or Career and Executive Performance. Executive Coaching -The Business Benefits Executive coaching is an investment for you and your business and you need to understand what returns you will get. How exactly will you benefit from it? Poise, Posture, and Performance Good posture is seen to have many advantages. From an aesthetic point of view it can enhance image, sending out the right signals (body language). For an athlete it is seen to be essential. But what is a good posture? We recognise poor posture when we see it, as it is evident in the majority of adults regardless of athletic ability. But just to confuse the matter, people with an ideal 'plumb-line' posture can also have poor movement patterns. This is because it is not the shape that is important but how it is maintained. An apparent 'good' posture can be achieved with totally inappropriate muscular activity. Great Advice It never ceases to amaze me that every time I give a speech, do a seminar, or talk with people one-on-one, I get inundated with questions seeking the almighty answers to all that ails them. Key Questions for a Coaching Conversation There are 2 key skills that coaches need to be truly effective, the ability to listen (often for what is missing rather than what is said) and the ability to ask the right question at the right time. |
