With This Herb, There Comes A Wed
The late Cuban singer and queen of salsa, Celia Cruz, said it clear in her classic salsa "El Yerbero Moderno" (the modern herbist). The rhythmical song names some herbs and their better use: "?I bring Basil, for the skinny one; I bring Vetivert, for the blind one?" and so on. Ok, it's true, the original lyrics are more fun as they rhyme in Spanish, but the idea to pick up there is that "with this herb you can get married." Other herbs she sings about are Holy Grass, Jechimon, Abre Camino, Garden Rue, Basil, Apazote, and Vetivert which are normally used for their medical healing properties. But what her music says not only has the approval of Afro and Latino descendents, it has also the recognition of many of us who practice Santeria, which is a combination of Afro magical ritual and Spaniard religion. Santeria was born in Cuba and Brazil . The use of plants and herbs are part of their magical ritual of worshiping spirits. We have explained before the methods in which plants, herbs, and roots should be used to attract and maintain the love you are seeking. But since then, Wiccan masters have found more herbs possessing love properties as well as their common uses for helping psychic powers, prosperity, protection, and other human realms. For instance, spiritual healers recommend different ways in which these herbs may convey natural energy and love. You may carry the plant material on your person, take an infusion bath, and boil it in water or just eat it as an aphrodisiac meal. To achieve the first option, make a tiny talisman by putting one to three leafs in a small hand-made mojo bag; these are easy to take with you as they can be placed into your bag, wallet or pocket. You may try boiling the herb you've bought into water; then, after cooling it, splash it onto your body in the shower. Another option would be to use the magical powers that many know surrounds their kitchen. It means you should concentrate on the person of your desire as you prepare a love potion which then can be drunk (i.e. tea, chilled beverage and cocktails) or eaten (mixed with the fish, soy, meat, chicken, grains, etc.). For those who don't know, some of these herbs may taste bitter, sour, salty, spicy, and sweet. On this, I always remind of what my mentor once told me: "Well, at least try to sweeten yourself with a Vanilla ice cream instead of bittersweet potions." Recently, at a public function where I was the Toastmaster, an elegant lady in her early 30s walked up to me and asked: 'Can a woman change a man?' Instead of giving her a direct answer, I asked her: 'can anybody change you from being you?' She said: 'No'. The truth is that no woman can change any man except the man himself decides to change. Living a Values-Based Life What is a values-based life? A values-based life is a self-capable life free of doubt or fear; a life that allows you to take risks, fulfill dreams, capture goals and live to your fullest capacity. Sound wonderful? It certainly is. Too good to be true? Not at all. When you live a life according to your personal values all of these awesome options are possible for you. However, there is some work involved that is an absolute necessity before any of those amazing things can happen for you. That pre-work involves identifying and accepting your values as the guiding principles in your life. Only when you have chosen this self-responsible attitude are you able to live a values-based life. Success Through a Supercharged Network I have finally come to believe something about myself because so many peoplehave said the same thing to me - I mean the EXACT same sentence - over thepast year. It is about something about me that others notice, which quitefrankly, just comes so naturally to me that I have never noticed before. Pretending Your Life As You Want It - True Power Series This is the sixth article in our "True Power" series. If you haven't been following the series, visit The ARTrepreneur to read the foundational material on beliefs before continuing. All people live a structured existence that is entirely make-believe. For example, though we act as if it's true, there is no such thing as days of the week or hours in a day. These things are completely fabricated conventions. If an alien were to visit New York, and someone said, "Well it's Monday morning, everyone's off to work," the alien would nod politely and think, "How quaint. They regulate their lives into compartments." The alien would in no way mistake the custom for reality. He would recognize the custom as an idea. We pretend it's real, but we could pretend other customs just as easily. There is no such thing as time really ? no minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months. We pretend they exist, and structure our lives accordingly, but we could just as easily do it a different way. The day could be split in half and called "up" and "down." Someone named some cycles. There are other cycles and other names. Musicians, for example, often operate in a no-time zone. Lots of writers have inverted or highly individualistic work schedules. Many artists have made successful careers by following their own personal rhythms and beliefs. They never fell for, "That's the way it is," because they knew it was all pretend, and they could pretend their own structure just as easily as following someone else's.If someone says to you, "the music business is brutal," refuse to believe it. If they want to pretend it's brutal, then they'll get that result. You won't be so easily deceived. There are actors who have made careers quickly in Hollywood because they didn't realize it was supposed to be hard. They weren't aware of the convention. Realize that all conventions that we call modern society are just ideas. Ideas are mobile. You can use them, discard them, and invent new ideas. In reality, there is no movie industry or art industry. In reality, there are never "Seven Steps to Anything." There are only ideas, and your ideas are as valid as anyone's, and certainly more valid for you.Pretending Your Life As You Want It ExerciseThere are two ways to do this exercise. Choose a time everyday, and pretend your life just the way you want it. See yourself in your mind doing the things you want to do the way you want to do them. This is much like the internal visualization exercises. You try to trick your mind into believing you're experiencing the ideal now.If you are bolder, you can pick a day or even a longer period of time, and while you go about your day-to-day life, pretend that what you really want is happening. Have imaginary meetings, imaginary bank deposits, imaginary shows, imaginary dinners out. Physically, you may be doing the dishes, but mentally you're making your subconscious become accustomed to the ideal. The minute you do this, it starts to create the circumstances to make it happen. The less you negate the ideal, the less you say to yourself, "That's not realistic. I can't have it," the easier and faster it will be produced. By thinking freely about the ideal, you begin to whittle away at doubts. At some point you'll accept the ideal, and the pretend world and the actual world will begin to mesh.Every successful person ignored the pretend circumstances outside themselves, and pretended, instead, to be who they wanted to be and live how they wanted to live. Pretending, then, is the essence of experience and, therefore, an essential quality. Your life is a masterpiece composed of ideas that motivate you to act. Be the creator of those ideas. Be moved by your own impulses and desires. Pretend your existence into what you want it to be. That's all anyone's doing anyways. The Real Secret of Attraction The secret of attraction is the unconscious hope for healing and understanding. This is why we are so discriminating in our choice of a marital partner. Not just anyone will do. And when we find the right person we become infatuated and fall head over heels for him or her. Our passion and hope for lifetime mate often borderlines on the absurd. Typically, what we see in him or her is really a self-generated fantasy. We are in "la la" land. We unconsciously block out all of their negative characteristics and distort their positives. We imagine them to be loving, caring, intelligent, funny, patient, giving, attractive, interesting, hard-working when in fact they are often very little of all of this. However, and all fairness, in spite of what we think about ourselves, we are also far from this ideal!
